OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME


In ‎2020, WHO launched the regional traumainitiative, a high-level, dedicated
trauma team that will directly support WHO country offices in preparing for,
responding to and recovering from emergenciesthat have a trauma component.
Although the primary focus with be EMR, the trauma team will also be available
fortechnical and operational support to other WHO activities related to trauma
andinjury world-wide. TheTOpAT and WHO Academy, a priority special initiative
aimed to acceleratelearning and capacity building, has gone into partnership
to operationalise traumatraining in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
Combining efforts has meant thatinnovative learning is applied to reach
countries most in need.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


Systematically collect andanalyze process, output and outcome data in EMR on
mass casualties and trauma.Review and update the WHO portablelearning
laboratory across the EMR. Support the overall processof delivering the
program, either through virtual means or through direct delivery,including
liaison with instructors. Ensure adequate follow-upand monitoring to assess
and improve the impact of programs and relatedactivities. Document these
findings in order to be published in peer reviewedjournals. Liaise and
coordinatecommunication with relevant local counterparts and service
providers, includingacademic/teaching institutions, and recommend sustainable
options to facilitatelifelong learning and scalability in-country.Contribute
to thedevelopment of an expert knowledge community that will support sharing
of lessonslearnt and experiences across countries in the EMR. Provide
technical input tocommunications material to raise the profile on trauma and
mass casualtymanagement, and in particular the new approach to learning. Under
the direction of theRegional Trauma Specialist, support simulation learning on
mass casualtymanagement and trauma.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Education


Essential : First level university degree in medicine, relatedhealth
sciences, social sciences, education/adult education or other field relatedto
this position.
Desirable : Advanced university degree (Master's or above) in trauma
sciencesor related health sciences.


Experience


Essential : At least ‎2 years of professionalexperience in project
management documenting requirements and seeing themtransformed into successful
deliverables.Experiencein designing and conducting literature reviews, and
qualitativeand quantitative data collection and analysis.
Desirable : Experience in applying agile project management approaches.
Internationalexposure in public health.


Skills

relationships withsubject matter experts, conduct interviews, and lead focus
groups. Analyticalskills with demonstrated ability to rapidly gather and

REMUNERATION


WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US
dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base
salary starting at USD ‎49,254 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension
contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post
adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station,
and currently amounts to USD ‎1478 per month for the duty station indicated
above. Other benefits include ‎30 days of annual leave, allowances for
dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent
children.
