The internship is in UNIC Cairo office in Egypt. Public Information Intern
will be mainly working in the scope of the Social Media activities and the
integration of social media platforms, including social networking tools such
as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, and YouTube.


The internship is for three (‎3) months with an opportunity for an extension up
to six (‎6) months, depending on the needs of UNIC Cairo.


The internship is unpaid and full-time.


Interns work five days per week [‎36 hours) under the supervision of the
Information Officer in UNIC Cairo.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the public information intern may be responsible
for the following duties:


Research, compile, draft and edit material for use in the preparation and
production of social media content and stories often under tight deadlines.


Monitor and analyze statistics related to social media content.


Assist in the creation of original content for social media platforms such as
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn and monitor engagement.


Manage meeting agendas and draft meeting notes when required.


Assists with special projects as assigned.


Attend meetings as an observer, when needed.


Support in translation from/to Arabic and English.

  • CLIENT ORIENTATION: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be "clients " and seeks to see things from clients' point of view-Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect-Identities clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions. Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
    Education
    To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, the following conditions
    must be met:




‎1. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second
university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have
completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program
(minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).


‎2. Be computer literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software
applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel or similar.


‎3. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and
have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and


‎4. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of
different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to
try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship
Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should
benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
For this internship advertised, fluency in Arabic and English is required.
