Telecommunication and Signalling Engineer (Rail)

Business Unit specific context

As Telecommunication and Signaling Engineer - Rail reporting to the Project
Manager Rail you will be responsible for the Telecoms / Signaling related
technical fields of metro and rail projects in Egypt.
In this exciting role, you will provide advice on all aspects of project
engineering including the interpretation of documentation, expertise of
feasibility, design, installation of Telecoms / Signaling equipment and
systems. You'll be responsible for any investigating into Telecoms / Signaling
equipment and systems, production of reports and any recommendations in
conjunction with the Project Manager Rail.
In addition, you'll provide technical support at client meetings and ensure
that you keep up to date with legislation and standards and ensure that this
is reflected in the various stages of each project as necessary

Job description

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Review Telecoms / Signaling design deliverables within a Rail environment.
* Perform site surveys and the preparation of specifications and requirements for Telecommunication and Signaling designs.
* Review Telecoms / Signaling design deliverable packages including drawings and other items.
* Prepare Telecoms / Signaling equipment electrical specifications for both outline and detailed designs.
* Prepare procurement specifications to support new and modified designs.
* Maintain a good understand of Egis Rail business standards of safety, quality and design.

Profile

The candidate should have:
* University degree at minimum Bachelors level of a recognized Electrical Engineering Faculty.
* General overall experience (‎5+) years with at least ‎3+ years of experience in the Telecoms and Signaling for Railways and Metro projects.
* A good understanding of signaling / telecom principles and proven experience of Engineering work within the Railway environment.
* Further education qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* Appropriate experience working within a design team in a project driven environment.
* Experience working with detailed electrical engineering distribution substation, switchgear, transformers and associated ancillary equipment drawings
* Excellent communication skills and capacity to develop good relations at work and fluent in English
* Experience working in a technical environment as part of a team is required.
* Determined to act in a responsible way in business activities as well as in social and environmental impact.
