* PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Business Egypt Program is a five-year, USAID-funded program implemented by
DAI. Business Egypt aims to substantially increase sales revenues and
investments among Egyptian micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and, by
so doing, create new job opportunities, especially for women and youth. The
project will co-invest with an ecosystem of institutions--business service
providers, business associations, supportive government institutions, and more
--to offer new products and services enabling MSMEs to better meet market
demand and increase their sales. Business Egypt's proposed sectors are
renewable energy, ICT, and 3 additional sectors TBD. The project will operate
from offices in Cairo, Alexandria, and Minya/Assiut (TBD).
2. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Established with the support of USAID in 2016, the Women Entrepreneurs Network
(WEN) is the first Egyptian entrepreneurs' network of organizations and
experts working together to strengthen, and bridge the needs of the
entrepreneurial ecosystem for women entrepreneurs. WEN, through its members'
organizations, aims to support women in scaling up their businesses,
increasing their revenues and employment opportunities, and do business
efficiently while building the capacity and impact of our members.
WEN's vision is to be the leading network synergistically advancing Egypt's
prosperity by empowering women entrepreneurs.
The selected consultant' mission will be to be responsible for, in close
collaboration with WEN board members, the overall operational and management
of WEN, identifying and obtaining an appropriate new legal structure,
coordinating and working with the WEN board, and its committees, to develop a
sustainable business plan.
3. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Own the process of turning WEN into a foundation legal structure
* Coordinate and work with the board, and its committees, to develop WEN's business plan including design programs and joint initiatives among member organizations.
* Develop and oversee the implementation of short-term, long-term strategic business plan and related performance measurements.
* Develop annual operational plan that reflects the organization's goals and objectives
* Ensure a high standard of operation of the organization.
* Ensure the legality of all the Foundation's actions and messages.
* Provide support to the Board by preparing meeting agenda, President's report, and supporting materials.
* Provide monitoring and reporting as required for communicating with stakeholders and in meeting the objectives of the Business Plan.
* Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational information and data at all times.
* Oversee communications & engagement with members, other stakeholders, and media; represents the organization as one of its key spokespersons.
* Direct the creation and design of institutional branding and visibility events.
* In the long term, lead efforts for revenue generation and fundraising including developing proposals and concept notes
* Responsible for financial management
* Cultivate strategic partnerships and donors, including government and corporate sponsors
* Seek to nurture relations and expand memberships among valuable and relevant organizations and experts in the ecosystem.
* Safeguard the integrity and good reputation of WEN
* Oversee the onboarding and management of human resources, including consultancies.
4. DELIVERABLES
* Weekly and/or monthly reports on the progress made within the network (activities, budget, action plan, business plan, etc.)
* Governance structure, and operational plans report (organization chart for the network, different committees, roles & responsibilities)
* WEN Business plan report (action plan, different committees, activities)
* monitoring and reporting as required for communicating with stakeholders and in meeting the objectives of the Business Plan
* Branding and visibility plan & guidelines
* End of assignment report
5. QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience related to, and knowledge of, entrepreneurship and women's economic empowerment in Egypt. Previous governance or organizational development expertise will be an asset.
* Experience related to planning and implementing program components; analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, and making recommendations in support of goals;
* Strong experience in effectively directing multiple fundraising initiatives.
* Strong communication and presentation skills in English and Arabic.
* Passion to support women entrepreneurs.
* A minimum of 8-10 years working experience with at least 6 years in similar roles
* Demonstrated leadership and teamwork experiences
* Project management experience
* Demonstrated networking skills
* Flexibility to travel and work outside typical working hours
