OPERATIONS CONTROLLER

Job Purpose: Emirates SkyCargo is a world-class air cargo carrier, with a vast
network of destinations, cutting-edge facilities, and a focus on innovation,
efficiency, and sustainability. The Cargo Operations Controller will manage
and organise the team to meet the operational shift activities for an
allocated location in CMT or DWC. You will facilitate the efficient and cost
effective processing of system-wide courier and express volumes in line with
contractual commitments and product priorities and enable the optimisation of
capacity utilisation. Below are the key responsibilities of the role:
Leadership - Manage and lead a team towards high levels of performance and
efficiency, develop team performance recommending and facilitating coaching
and development interventions and ensure that performance is effectively
managed in accordance with group standards. - Provide expert advice to the
team during the shift, acting as a subject matter expert when the team are
faced with operational challenges in accordance with product quality
objectives and conformance with published safety requirements and standards.
Safety and Security - Contribute to the timely accident response initiative by
ensuring safety information is captured in the SID report and co-ordinate and
conduct risk assessments as appropriate. - Conduct regular safety briefings,
review and analyse incidents/accidents to avoid reoccurrences and champion
safety awareness, leading the team towards a first class safety culture.
Quality - Manage and administrate express and cargo activities at the Hub
within an allocated location during a shift. - Develop and maintain good
relationship with internal and external stakeholders including local
authorities (police, customs, DA, municipality) to identify solutions to
problems in a manner that ensures service delivery standards are met and
business continuity is not compromised. - Evaluate expected import and export
loads ensuring that special high revenue cargo is prioritised, and that
appropriate cross utilisation of resources is implemented whilst maintaining
safety standards. - Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, review special
customer orders and co-ordinate the pickup of freight and cargo at the loading
platform in a timely manner ensuring service deliver standards are maintained,
and address any service failures in accordance with our SFE producers. - Align
strategies with internal sections and departments of Emirates Regulatory
Authorities and Service Providers to ensure that operational priorities are
actioned pro-actively and efficiently to achieve the highest standards with
the optimum safe utilisation of available capacity. Good Distribution Practise
(GDP) Specific - Ensure all deviations are handled, recorded and escalated as
per GDP controlled documents Quality Management System(QMS and Work
Instructions) and ensure at all times, that the handling of time and
temperature sensitive/pharmaceutical shipments demonstrates compliance to the
European Union (EU) GDP requirements.
Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for the role, you must meet the
below requirements: - Degree in logistics and operations management or similar
would be advantageous - ‎5+ years of working experience in areas such as Air
Cargo, logistics and supply chains, operations, warehousing, freight
forwarding etc.; Experience at a cargo operations supervisory level is
required. - Understanding of risk analysis procedures, airline quality
management systems and familiarity with ISO9001/‎2000 procedures - Demonstrable
expertise in IATA Cargo handling procedures and regulations - Knowledge of
aircraft handling including weight and balance, cargo load planning, dangerous
