Strategic Communications is one of the priorities of the WHO Regional
Director's "Vision2023" for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) and is an
integrated part ofthe Department of Communications, Resource Mobilization and
Partnership (CRP). The StrategicCommunications For Health (SCH) Programme's
Strategic Objective is to reinforceWHO's role as the trusted health authority,
and to share evidence-based healthinformation in the Region. The
program'sspecific objectives are to: Reach the public, donors, media and
otherstakeholders with accurate, timely and appealing information
throughtraditional and innovative platforms to: promote WHO's impact and
credibility as the leading voice for publichealth highlight heath needs across
the region though human storiescommunicate health risks and dispel
misinformation. Enhance WHO's capacity to communicate for health,foster
partnerships with the media and other key stakeholders, and attract
resourcesfor strategic prioritiesReaffirm WHO staff's knowledge of and pride
in thework of the Organization Advise senior management on issues that
affectWHO's reputation and credibility
Serve as the primary C4H focal point for the UHS Department to advance the
department's communications plans and products in line with the CRP's Regional
Communications for Health (C4H) strategy aimed at streamlining communications
functions, resources and products at the WHO Regional Office and WHO Country
Offices (WCOs) as well as using C4H as a tool to improve health outcomes
towards achieving the Regional Vision of Health for All by All.Collaborate
with all technical programmes of the UHS department as well as concerned
technical counterparts at WHO/HQ and WCOs to ensure coordinated, timely,
synergistic and evidence-informed conceptualization/production/amplifications
of C4H products on traditional/digital media and communications
platforms/channels across the Region. Develop, write, edit and design printed
and electronic content (e.g. web stories, media releases, social media cards,
newsletters, video and multimedia materials, posters, flyers, infographics,
etc) for WHO/EMRO's C4H initiatives and campaigns, particularly those related
to the UHS Department, ensuring that the content is newsworthy, accurate,
accessible, updated, informative, engaging andaligned with WHO House Style,
corporate branding and accessibility guidelines.Provide technical input and
support to Corporate and Programme Communications Teams to ensurethat health
communications campaigns (e.g. health days) and initiatives, follow the C4H
framework and that the key communications messages and products are carefully
targeted (considering culture, beliefs, values, language and accessibility of
the target audiences) and strategically framed in line with the Health for All
by All Vison. Support WHO Country Offices to proactively utilize storytelling
techniques within the C4H framework to amplify the community voice, and
increase receptiveness of theWHO's communication message at the country level,
particularly in areas relatedto UHS Department. Support the development and
implementation of C4H capacity building at Regional Office, Country Office
sand Ministries of Health in collaboration with UN agencies, and other
stakeholders and partners such as the media. Document, monitor and evaluate
WHO/EMRO's and WCO's C4H initiatives, achievements, and best practices to
maximize its impact particularly those pertaining the UHS initiatives, drawing
on techniques and evidence from social and behavioral change communication,
health promotion, behavioural insights, community engagement and risk
communications.Collaborate closely with all communications teams as well as
other teamsunder other CRP streams namely Resource Mobilization and
Partnerships infulfilling the department's vision and mission in a synergistic
and harmonious manner.
Essential : A first-level university degree in communications,
journalism, marketing, humanities, social sciences, health or a related field.
Desirable : Proven knowledge of public health and/or a degree in health
communications.
Essential : At least five years' related experience in the field of
health communications including developing and implementing communications
content, plans, campaigns and strategies, preferably on Health Systems topics
such as promoting Primary Health Care, Access to Health Services, and
Universal Health Coverage.
Desirable : Work experience at the United Nations System (particularly
WHO) and/or with international exposure (e.g. international NGOs, multilateral
corporations, diplomatic missions, etc) in developing advocacy/communication
materials (e.g.media/social media content) and campaigns to promote and
advocate public health and sustainable development initiatives. Experience in
handling global or multi-country health communication/promotion campaigns will
be considered as anadditional asset.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of the principles and practices of health
communications including familiarity with relevant theories from behavioural
science. Ability to communicate effectively, including demonstrated skills in
writing effectivelyand editing content for a wide range of communications
products. Skills in training, capacity building and knowledge transfer Sound
advocacy skills complemented by the ability to plan and evaluate situations
and propose innovative communication options. Ability to acquire knowledge and
information about a wide range of technical health subject matters, and to
select, organize and present information in a manner suitable for the intended
audience. Ability to work with the senior level health officials, partners,
multiple stakeholders and professionals in public and private sector as well
as civil society. Sound coordination and project management skills for
delivering communications materials in coordination with key partners.Proven
ability to multitask, prioritize, research and produce communications content
and materials with short deadlines.Ability to work harmoniously asa member of
a team, adapt to diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and maintain a
high standard of personal conduct.

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at EGP 851,861 (subject
to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as
applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
