We are starting an exciting new global team to tackle our largest and most
complex VMware product and customer environments. This SRE Technical Program
Manager role in the Worldwide Consulting Center (WWCC) is a great opportunity
to expand your knowledge of cloud technologies, automation, large customers,
and global culture. In this role, you will focus on improving the speed,
reliability, and quality of infrastructure services, apply project management
principles and practices to infrastructure and cloud operations, solve
problems, and serve as a main point of contact between the customer and
technical team(s). You will work closely with multiple R &D engineering
organizations and several cross-functional teams in WWCC to drive innovation
in product upgrades and delivery, orchestration, and automation, solve
problems and manage production systems at scale. Our teams comprise passionate
customer-oriented team players, and you will be responsible for the entire
upgrade service lifecycle - from scheduling, through assessment, upgrade, and
post-upgrade activities. One of your key responsibilities, as part of the SRE
Global Organization, will be to unify, standardize, document, and set Service
Management practices, including methodology documentation, guides, and KPI
tracking & reporting for complex solutions that will be used for thousands of
VMware customers by our organization, partners, and customers.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12
months you will work toward completing?
* Be part of a highly specialized SRE team that works in collaboration with management, professional services, support, and R &D teams.
* Lead the execution of VCF assessment, upgrade, modernization, and extensions toward successful completion.
* Onboard new members and mentor junior members with the day-to-day service activities
* Clear obstacles and establish an environment where the team can be effective.
* Analyze customer requirements, facilitate, and deliver technical solutions based on VMware technologies
* Effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
* Build and maintain the confidence of colleagues and customers.
* Maintain current knowledge of the entire VMware product line.
* Develop excellent working relationships with the key individuals within the team.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments,
requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths,
but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:
* Working with CRM or management systems such as Salesforce, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
* Leading projects in a fast-paced, growing organization.
* Drive customer upgrades, adoption, consumption, retention, and expansion
* Work without close supervision and with a proactive, goal-oriented attitude
* Define, adopt, and maintain processes, systems management concepts, and standards to be used in day-to-day activities.
* Develop and track detailed project plans, schedules, dependencies, critical paths.
* Help document best practices and lessons learned in developing and deploying VMware solutions and feed them into our knowledge base for reuse by the team, customers, and partners.
* Present custom solutions and articulate how business requirements are met to all levels of customer resource, from operators and consumers to the highest management staff.
* Secure and assign resources per project needs.
* Clearly communicate with customers and upper management any risk areas; come up with risk mitigation plans.
* Work outside business hours if required.
* Cover a 24/7 rotational shift pattern if required.
Success Factors
* Proven experience in complex project management in an enterprise environment
* Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact, communicate, and build relationships with all levels of personnel, internal and external.
* Excellent attention to detail, and strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage and prioritize competing internal and external demands.
* Solid skills in influencing, teaming, and delivering solutions in a highly complex and nebulous environment. Ability to conceive of, and accept responsibility for, projects and initiatives, and see them through to completion.
* Good commercial acumen, business sense, and strong analytical skills are required.
* Experience establishing productive relationships with stakeholders.
* Solid technical acumen in at least 2 of the following areas: Datacenter infrastructure, Operating systems, Desktop deployments, Cloud, Networking, Security, System Administration, or technical architecture
* Preferably with industry certifications such as ITIL, Scrum, PMP, etc
* IT bachelor 's degree or equivalent IT work experience
Where is this role located?
Cairo, Egypt
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from
the VMware Cairo office and remote depending on your preferences and the
arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live
within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
