The Job Opportunity
Serco Middle East is looking to hire a Signaling & Systems SME – STCA to work
with the team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KSA is a key focus for Serco

Key Purpose:
* Responsible for provision of signal engineering input into feasibility studies/option analysis/scheme appraisal; scheme development; detailed design; project engineering
* Delivery of engineering (design and consultancy) specific tasks
* Contribution to the engineering input to multi-disciplinary railway engineering (design and consultancy) projects
Key accountabilities
Ability to analyze System and Subsystem Hardware and Software Requirements to
define appropriate validation methods
* Ability to provide verification of appropriate validation methods used to satisfy System and Subsystem level requirements
* Develop test procedures to satisfy system and subsystem hardware and software requirements
* Develop documentation showing compliance to applicable standards and requirements specifications throughout EN ‎50128 V&V; Lifecycle
* Review of project life cycles
* Review and develop software system and subsystem level test procedures when required
* Monitor software testing as per standard requirement
* Perform hardware level type testing (EMC/EMI, temperature and humidity, shock, and vibration, etc.)
* Review and comment on the tests report and review on non-compliances
* Ensure that designed software and hardware meet applicable requirements
* Ability to verify requirements traceability matrices for software and hardware development
* Perform verification of software and hardware test procedures when required
* Industry Knowledge of testing tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators
* Ability to perform testing independently
* Familiarity in development of test procedures and execution of testing in accordance with applicable
standards (i.e., EN ‎50128, IEEE ‎1558, EN ‎50121-‎3-‎2, EN ‎50155, EN ‎50129, etc.)
* Regularly review test and commissioning progress and statu s. Review the configuration of documentation, hardware, and software in the field
* Ability to perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of system and subsystem issues and when required escalate issues to engineering and management
* Ability to interact with internal and external stake holders and project team in a professional manner
* Provide expert overview of designing, commissioning, testing Signaling ATC systems
* Ability to guide with overall systems architecture design
* Ability to guide with robust, mission critical control systems
Specific requirements

Knowledge
* Proven experience in signaling design and engineering management within a consultancy environment.
* Ability to plan and produce compliant signaling schemes with minimum supervision
* Detailed knowledge of signaling principles, circuit design and operation, signaling
components and the implications of working with other disciplines
* Knowledge of the testing and reporting processes to implement process improvement methods or tools
* DOORS Experience
* C++ coding experience
* Experience in V&V; activities within the railway or other regulated field
Skills

• IRSE ‎1.1.‎510 Signaling Designer; (required)


• IRSE ‎1.1.‎550 Signaling Principles Designer; (required)


• IRSE ‎1.1.‎160 Signaling Design Verifier; (preferable)


• Ideally a suitable rail industry recognized qualification (ONC/OND/HNC/HND)


• Knowledge of Rail Transit Subsystem such as Automatic Train Supervision, Vehicle, Telecommunication, Platform Screen Gates, Traction Electrification, SCADA, CCTV, Radios, GPS, etc.


• Understanding of software configuration managements (CM)


• Understanding of software programming logic


• Ability to read, understand, and implement scripts written in various scripting languages (BASH, python, Perl)


• Basic working knowledge of the Linux or UNIX operating system


• Prefer Expertise in of the following:
  o Power systems including traction power and medium to low voltage designs
  o EMI / EMC system integration and validation
  o Telecoms and Network designs
  o Automated control design and development systems
  o Conventional signaling control designs
  o CBTC (Communication based train control) systems and designs

Qualification
Bachelor of Science in engineering or a related discipline
‎15+ years of experience
* Prefer rail or rail transit domain experience
