Coordinates activities of the Laboratory. Provides administrative support to
the Laboratory Administrator, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Develops and coordinates educaational programs to train Medical Technology
students, Saudi Career Development Program personnel and continuing medical
education for all laboratory staff.
1. Provides administrative support to the Head, Laboratory in daily
operational activities. Coordinates work of Laboratory sections. Assists with
planning.
2. Determines training needs of the Laboratory. Assists with development of
training programs. Assists with training of Laboratory personnel and with
orientation of new employees.
3. Develops and coordinates all activities in all laboratory sections related
to the Medical Technology training Programs, while maintaining compliance with
requirements established by the other academic institutions in the Kingdom
including ASCP and CAP.
4. Coordinates activities with the Department of Training and Development.
Assists in developing and coordinating all related activities of the Saudi
Career Development Program, with training of Saudi Nationals who have
appropriate credentials in coordination with the Department of Training and
development.
5. Arranges and provides lectures, develops and assembles educational
materials, performance evaluation, assisting students and performs other
functions related to training activities; coordinates activities related to
continuing medical education of all technical and administrative Laboratory
and Pathology staff members.
6. Receives new employees and arranges their departmental orientation and
introduction to laboratory staff and complete departmental paperwork.
7. Directs supply and equipment activities relative to standardizing,
ordering, receiving, rejecting, verifying, updating items used by all
sections; to check the adequacy of laboratory supplies and equipment. Oversees
inventory of supplies and equipment; provides support to all laboratory
sections and assists the sections with solving problems encountered with the
specification, standardization, ordering and receiving/rejecting of supplies
and equipment.
8. Assists with preparation of annual budget.
9. Assists with review and revision of Laboratory policies and procedures,
and assists with implementation of revised policies and procedures.
10. Performs special projects assigned by Head, Laboratory and acts as deputy
for Head, Laboratory during his/her absences.
11. Participates in and contributes to quality improvement activities.
Masters or Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology required.
Eight (8) years of experience in Laboratory Medicine including four (4) years
in a supervisory capacity with the Master 's Degree or ten (10) years of
similar requirements with the Bachelor's Degree required.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) by the American Society of
Clinical Pathologist or equivalent body required for Non-Saudis.
