WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Program Project Manager will work as part of the Organizational Strategies
team within the People Team Business Unit. They will be responsible for using
proven team management approaches to support high priority, large, complex
conservation project teams in project planning and implementation by utilizing
a Conservation Guidebook for Project Management, working closely with our
Chief Conservation Office and utilizing the Highly Effective Teams® approach
for projects. The Program Project Manager will support global strategy
leadership and work with high priority client teams to establish project goals
and success factors and develop project plans, budgets, metrics and schedules
with input and buy-in from key stakeholders and team members. They will serve
as a technical resource to coach clients to critically assess project scope
and objectives, ensuring all risks and dependencies are addressed in the
project plan in order to deliver successful project results that support the
fulfillment of the objectives. They will support clients to define roles and
responsibilities, engage team members, and lead the project teams to
successfully achieve identified goals in the most cost-effective and time-
saving manner possible.

The Program Project Manager will build into project plans go/no-go decisions
at all project decision points from the Project Lead or Sponsor. After the
initial set up and structuring of the client team's strategy or project, the
Program Project Manager II may help the client team identify and onboard a
long-term Project Manager or short-term Acting Project manager, allowing the
Program Project Manager II to move on to working with a pipeline of high
priority teams needing upfront structuring and planning coaching and support.
As needed and available, at times the Program Project Manager II may re-engage
with clients for whom they helped set up team strategy and project structures
in order to support risk management, issue resolution, and conflict
management, and collaboratively solve complex problems. At times they may
perform short-term Acting Project Manager roles if the strategic importance of
the work demands the high level of project management expertise possessed by
the Program Project Manager II. They will travel occasionally, working long
and flexible hours as needed. Their work environment involves only infrequent
exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

project manager to support high priority, complex program and projects teams
get up and running with the right structure, clarity in work, and decision-
making processes to accomplish conservation outcomes and program goals. The
ideal candidate should be able to work within a matrix structure, coach cross-
functional teams, and engage effectively with senior leaders, Project
Sponsors, and diverse stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should be able to work on multiple projects and be able to
coach projects leaders and team members on project management best practices.
Previous experience with environmental or conservation projects is a bonus.
You would ideally have consulting experience supporting client teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Bachelor's degree and ‎7 years related experience or equivalent combination;


• ‎5 years of project management experience or ‎3 years acting as a project lead;


• Completed coursework or other training on project management principles;


• Direct experience working on and experience consulting on managing and tracking multiple projects and experience managing and implementing complex processes.


• Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff


• Experience managing scheduling and logistical aspects of medium to large projects that range from short to long term; and directly using and consulting on project management techniques and tools.


• Experience working with a highly matrixed, decentralized and collaborative organization.


• Experience meeting time sensitive deadlines.


• Experience training staff on how to effectively engage with internal and external parties.
  DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


• Credentialed certification in Highly Effective Teams® (HET) or Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent program;


• Ability to use project management software (e.g., Smartsheet) or the ability to quickly learn new software;


• Critical analytical thinking and excellent English writing skills;


• Strong communication and presentation skills;


• Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade;


• Ability to write and speak in a language other than English, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French or Chinese, highly desirable.


• Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences;


• NGO experience


• Ability to acquire quick fluency in the client's global strategy or Business Unit strategy


• Familiarity and knowledge related to business, governmental, and/or environmental policy and practices pertaining to the global strategy or Business Unit area of focus.


• Experience supervising staff, interns and/or volunteers;


• Ability to develop and drive new ideas and approaches;


• Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data;


• Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
