Building on two decades of work on extractive industries transparency and
accountability, the global Publish What You Pay (PWYP) network is campaigning
for a fairer, cleaner energy future.
PWYP has historically worked to address the negative impacts of a phenomenon
known as the "resource curse", in which countries rich in natural resources
tend to have worse development outcomes and democratic governance than those
without abundant oil, gas or mineral resources. The diverse network of more
than ‎1,000 member organisations, ranging from grassroots organisations to
INGO's, has promoted transparency, accountability and citizen participation at
every level of the extractive sector, from local communities in mining areas
to national governments, to regional mineral governance frameworks. Our
strength lies in our ability to coordinate action nationally and globally,
maximising our collective voice to push for policy and behaviour change in
governments and businesses. In ‎2024, we will be preparing our next global
strategy to respond to the dual imperatives of climate action and sustainable
development.
PWYP is now seeking an outstanding, collaborative and humble leader to join as
our next Executive Director (ED). This is an exciting time to bring new
leadership to PWYP as we move into our next chapter. Reporting to the Board of
Trustees, the ED will be responsible for providing the PWYP Secretariat and
global network with strategic leadership, vision, and direction - bearing the
ultimate responsibility for ensuring the organisation's long-term success and
sustainability. They will provide the intellectual leadership and strategic
representation to ensure PWYP achieves global impact and responds to new
opportunities.
The next Executive Director will bring strategic leadership experience,
ideally gained in the international development, social or environmental
justice fields, and an understanding of the global political, social, and
economic issues pertinent to PWYP's work. As well as being a credible leader,
the ED will be a coordinator for the global movement, a compelling
communicator and relationship builder, able to simultaneously work with and
harness the collective power of all the stakeholders within our network. As
such, the next Executive Director should bring excellent written and spoken
English as well as one of French, Spanish, Arabic or Russian. The ideal ED
will bring demonstrable fundraising experience and knowledge of the donor
landscape. You will motivate, inspire and energise others to achieve their
full potential, whilst maintaining high standards of ethics, integrity and
professionalism. Crucially, the successful candidate will have a strong belief
in and passion for PWYP's values, along with a commitment to a diverse and
inclusive working environment.

The role's location is flexible globally. PWYP aims to provide a fair
remuneration that will attract and retain the high calibre of staff that is
required to deliver our strategic objectives and to advance our mission and
values. PWYP has a global salary scale that has been externally benchmarked to
