Project Overview
The _ "Alexandria West Wastewater Treatment Plant Extension and Upgrade"_
project aims to extend the capacity of the Alexandria West Wastewater
Treatment Plant (AWWWTP) as well as to upgrade the treatment level to improve
the current sanitation and environmental services in the city of Alexandria
and bordering Lake Maryout. To this end, the spread of waterborne diseases
will be limited and the economic conditions in the area improved - elements of
utmost importance for the pursued sustainable development of the country. The
Project will support the depollution of Lake Maryout and the Mediterranean Sea
and potentially provide an additional source of water and thus improve the
economic situation for fishery, agriculture/forestry and tourism in the area.
The project is also expected to improve the health and environmental situation
of the people living in the Governorate of Alexandria. In addition, the
project will include sludge treatment and digestion to allow for bioenergy
generation, so as to reduce the ecologic and carbon footprint of the WWTP.
The results that are expected from the project are:
* Increase in capacity of the Alexandria West WWTP from the current ‎462,000 m³/day to ‎600,000 m³/day;
* Minimisation of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) cost due to biogas utilization;
* Minimisation of emission of greenhouse gasses (GHG) due to energy recovery and sludge digestion;
* Reduction of Pollution going to Lake Maryout, El Mex Bay and the Mediterranean Sea.
Role / Position:
The Team Leader (TL) shall act as the Engineer according to FIDIC rules.
The TL shall be responsible of the complete management of the PIC Contract
including management of the PIC experts and the PIC deliverables. More
specifically, TL will be responsible for, but not limited to, coordination of
project team to ensure that the inputs of experts are available at the time
when they are required and that they produce the contractual deliverables on
time and within budget; allocation of tasks within the team; liaison with the
counterparts; financial management and reporting; and other tasks as required.
Apart from above tasks, TL shall contribute to the capacity building
activities.
Qualifications and Skills
* University degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, process or equivalent);
* Master's degree in engineering or equivalent;
* Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English;
* Excellent communication, reporting and computer skills;
* Knowledge of Arabic would be considered an advantage
General Professional Experience
* A minimum of ‎15 years professional experience in both engineering design and construction supervision of wastewater treatment projects;
* A minimum of ‎5 years experience as Team Leader or Project manager during the last ‎10 years
Specific Professional Experience
* Key expert in the Supervision Team as Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader or Resident Engineer in at least ‎2 projects of wastewater treatment plant works secondary phase not less than ‎100,000 m3/day
* A minimum of ‎5 years professional experience in the field of management (in the position of Project Manager or Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader of the Consultant) for construction supervision of wastewater infrastructure projects;
* Experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects governed by FIDIC Conditions of Contract (Yellow, Red or Gold Book)
* Previous experience in the region would be considered as an advantage.
