Team Leader Egypt - International Water

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader for ongoing water and sanitation
projects in Egypt to join our International Water Portfolio. This is a senior
role, and the successful candidate will be contributing to the commercial
success of the project.

This role is based in Egypt with time split between Cairo and the governorates
of Sohag and Qena in Upper Egypt. It is currently a part time role as follows:
* Approximately ‎5 months from June to December ‎2023 - equivalent to ‎32 hours per week
* Approximately ‎6 months in ‎2024 - equivalent to ‎20 hours per week.
* Extension beyond ‎2024 is possible, depending on project performance.
This role is subject to approval by the Client.

Responsibilities:
* The delivery and successful completion of projects under their oversight. Success means technical, commercial, financial, success and realisation of client benefits agreed at the bid stage:
* Delivery of project(s), and leading project team(s) to ensure excellent technical delivery in accordance with project Terms of Reference and contract
* Develop and maintain a sound relation with the Client, and other relevant external stakeholders (such as donors, relevant local authorities, other project consultants) to meet expectations and client satisfaction.
* Reporting on project progress and status to the client and other relevant stakeholders
Working with the Project Principal and Project Manager to deliver a
* * commercially successful project, within budget, while ensuring contract terms and risk mitigations are put into practice and that risks are actively managed throughout project delivery
* Identify and maintaining a forecast of resourcing needs and requirements for successful project delivery.
* Manage inputs and outputs of project staff, including national and international sub-consulting firms and individuals.
* Ensure Health, Safety and Welfare - working to Mott MacDonald's global standards and reviewing Health Safety and Welfare alongside project delivery.

Candidate Specification

The following experience/capabilities are essential for this role:
* University degree in civil engineering or related subjects
* Significant experience in the water sector
* Strong client and stakeholder relationship building skills.
* Experience as a team leader for large and complex Water and Sanitation projects in developing countries.
* Significant experience with the construction and management of water infrastructure
* Experience with capital investment projects
* Extensive experience in reporting and monitoring
* Regional experience in Egypt, North Africa or the Middle East.
* Excellent people skills with confidence to take part in high level meetings with public and private sector clients.
* The ability to respect and work well with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
* A background in the delivery and management of projects in the Water and Sanitation sector
* Negotiation and moderation skills
The following experience/capabilities are desirable for this role:
* Implementation of water and sanitation projects in Egypt
* Capacity building within water and wastewater companies in developing economies
* Proven experience as a Team Leader for water and sanitation projects, ideally in developing economies
* The ability to speak Arabic
