Job Summary:

The position is responsible for analyzing and directing all IT related
activities of the University with supervisory responsibilities of all Office
of Information Technology (OIT) team members. The position is accountable for
ensuring continuity of OIT services to all users through planning, technical
leadership, and project management. The IT Manager is primarily responsible in
overseeing and managing AURAK's information technology projects, and
coordinates project phases from development to installation.

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent co-
education institution of Higher Education that provides an integrated

AURAK is a young and rapidly growing university. AURAK is located in Ras Al

Job Purpose & Responsibilities
The position is responsible for analyzing and directing all IT related
activities of the University with supervisory responsibilities of all Office
of Information Technology (OIT) team members. The position is accountable for

leadership, and project management. The IT Manager is primarily responsible in
overseeing and managing AURAK's information technology projects, and
coordinates project phases from development to installation.
Minimum Qualification and Education
Essential: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
Desirable: Master's degree in Information Technology
Certification:
* Cisco Certificated Network Professional (CCNP)
* Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE)
* ITIL Foundation
Required Knowledge and Skills
The individual must possess the knowledge and skills to successfully perform
the essential functions of the position. The required knowledge and skills of
the position follow.
* Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions.
* Ability to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied packaged programs for use with existing information systems.
* Understanding of IT project management principles.
* Understanding of IT risk management.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Thorough knowledge of system development methods used for the development of new systems and enhancements to existing information systems.
* Thorough knowledge of advanced concepts and basic operating principles of data communications and information systems hardware and software.
* Thorough knowledge of data processing and data communications concepts and services.
* Knowledge of Computer hardware and software used in a networked and web-based environment.
* Knowledge of information technology designs, setups, installation, implementation and maintenance.
* Knowledge of security issues, crisis management and business continuity regarding technology resources.
* Knowledge of existing, evolving and new technology resources and how to tie these investments to improved university business performance.
* Skill in analyzing and improving operational effectiveness
* Skill in managing multiple projects, including development and management of budget.
* Ability to manage the day-to-day operations of the department, and technically savvy enough to contribute directly.
Work Experience
* At least ‎3 - ‎4 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role in Higher Education Environment.
* At least ‎4 - ‎5 years of senior level experience in IT Infrastructure systems.
* Experience in Virtualization & Disaster Recovery technologies.
* Experience in designing and administrating datacenter environments.
* Good understanding of Physical and Logical security protocols.
* Knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
Language proficiency required
Essential: Fluent in English (Written and spoken).
Desirable: Arabic speaking would be an advantage.
