Job Purpose: To deliver dedicated financial services to a department both
directly and indirectly by performing an advisory function covering various
financial initiatives at a tactical level supported by appropriate financial
tools and information to facilitate informed decision making. Tracking
business performance on all tactical decisions and highlighting issues and
areas of concern to influence corrective actions and conducting regular
reviews of business performance using benchmarks and KPIs to highlight and
suggest improvements to overall effectiveness. Job Outline: - To provide
financial analysis and make recommendations on key decisions affecting the
airline operations, so that the decisions taken are financially sound. These
decisions include: new route studies, aircraft type options, long term
financial plans, acquisition of new aircraft, cost options on code share
agreements, and aircraft lease agreements. The jobholder is accountable for
the quality of recommendations they make. - To analyse the Airlines weekly
financial performance, and prepare a weekly commentary for the Presidents and
DSVP/SVP's highlighting the areas of good and poor performance, to focus the
readership on the key areas requiring attention and action. Most critical is
the provision of analysis on changes in yield on a weekly basis. - To compile
the comparison of Emirates financial performance with that of other airlines,
and to produce a regular report for the Executives highlighting key variances.
In particular, focusing on unit cost and revenue trends. - To produce an
analysis of the airlines expected financial and cash flow performance for the
following two financial years and to make recommendations to the SBFM/DVP MA
on the financial targets that should be set to ensure the airline achieve its
long-term financial goals. - To ensure the weekly report is accurate the
jobholder must review cost and revenue standards through proactive co-
ordination with other sections like Commercial, Planning, Yield Management,
and Cargo. Often the forecast cost and revenue standards are subjective, and
so the jobholder is expected to use his own initiative and judgement to
finally decide what is to be used in the report. PEKA and the Commercial SVP's
regularly challenge these assumptions, and so the jobholder is expected to be
able to defend his decisions. - To manage the production of the weekly
performance reports, ensuring that the report is consistently delivered to the
Presidents and DSVP/SVP's on the 1st working day of the week, whilst at the
same time ensuring a high degree of accuracy. The `greensheet' weekly report
is one of the most critical sources of information used within the Airline,
and the jobholder is accountable to the Presidents/SVPs for its timeliness and
accuracy. - To manage the consolidation of the Airlines budget through co-
ordination with the other FP&A units on costs, and the various business units
on revenue. The jobholder is responsible for production of a comprehensive
budget route pack for the Presidents on a timely basis, to enable them to
approve the overall profit, and/or decide where changes are required at
route/aircraft levels. - Manage the information systems and future development
to ensure that IT is used to enhance the product and analysis available. In
particular, manage all the POWER related changes by co-ordinating with the IT
team. - Ensure that the performance and development of all employees managed
by the jobholder are managed in a timely and effective manner which will
develop their competence, style and influencing capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience: Experience: Finance & Insurance.Finance
Management: 8+ years Qualifications: Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
Knowledge/Experience: - Qualified accountant, preferably a Management
Accountant, with 4 years' experience in a similar capacity at a multinational
company. - Hands on experience on tools like BO, Oracle Hyperion, Micro
strategy and Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is a must.
