Head of Group Accounting

Property Finder is the leading digital real estate platform in the Middle East
and North Africa region. A UAE-born startup, Property Finder expanded its
operations to Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt over the years.
Recently, it acquired a significant stake in Zingat in Turkey. The company is
one of the largest technology start-ups in the region and on a journey to
becoming a Unicorn. We are aspiring to create a lighthouse technology company
which will have a lasting impact in the entire tech ecosystem in our
geography.

Role Summary:
* Head of Group Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions within a group of companies. The primary role is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information across the entire group.

Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Reporting - Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and presentation of financial statements and reports for the group as a whole, in accordance with relevant accounting standards, regulations and PF company policies.
* Consolidation - Overseeing the consolidation of financial data from subsidiary companies within the group to present a comprehensive view of the group's financial performance and position.
* Auditing and Compliance - Lead and coordinate external audits to ensure compliance with statutory obligations in all jurisdictions where the group operates.
* Accounting Policies and Procedures - Establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures that are consistent across the group, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and applicable laws in each country.
* Internal Controls - Implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain the accuracy of financial records.
* Financial Analysis - Contributing to financial analysis and providing insights on the group's financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
* Stakeholder Communication - Interacting with internal and external stakeholders, such as auditors, regulatory authorities and senior management, to provide financial information and address inquiries.
* Technical Accounting Guidance - Providing guidance and support to the finance and accounting teams on complex accounting issues, transactions, and accounting standards.
* Financial Systems and Processes - Evaluate, implement, and improve financial systems (ERP, accounting/reporting software) and processes to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and maintain accurate financial records. Stay updated with emerging accounting technologies and recommend relevant tools.
* Risk Management: Assess and mitigate financial risks within the group, such as currency exposure, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk. Develop strategies to manage and minimize potential risks.
* Team Leadership - Managing and developing a team of high performing accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Desired Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
* Min. ‎8-‎10 years of progressive experience with increasing levels of responsibility in accounting and finance roles, including supervisory and managerial positions. MNC, auditor, financial consultancy (accounting advisory) and industry-specific experience beneficial.
* Strong technical accounting skills with in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, and financial reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP)
* Excellent leadership and management skills having demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a large team and manage performance.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to be able to interpret financial data, provide meaningful insights, address complex financial issues, and develop strategic solutions.
* Upholding high integrity and ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information. Familiarity with ethical guidelines and regulations in accounting and finance.
