Librarian - new GEMS School, Al Waha, Sustainable City, Dubai

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Librarian to join our brand-new UK
curriculum school in Dubai for September ‎2023. The School will be located in
Al Waha, Dubai, very close to Sustainable City as well as many other
attractive, expat communities along the Al Qudra Road area. It will follow an
established GEMS brand, with unique features at a great fee point. The school
will open for learners from FS1 to Year ‎8 in the founding year, growing
subsequently each year to offer a through school curriculum within six years
from its opening.
You will be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the school
library, introducing books and encouraging the enjoyment of reading. Where
appropriate, you will supervise library assistants, students and volunteers.
Your main responsibilities will include developing reading lists by age levels
in liaison with the heads of departments, assisting students to find books to
borrow and maintaining accurate records of all library books and other
resources. You will also be responsible for the management of all borrowed
books, you will follow up with students and parents when required.
You will participate in the selection and ordering process of new books and
the renewal of subscription for periodicals. You will also be responsible for
the general maintenance of the library ensuring it is an organised,
comfortable and welcoming environment for students of all ages.

About You
You will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Librarianship/ Library and Information
Science. You will also have a minimum of ‎2-‎3 year's experience in a similar
position, ideally in an educational setting. Experience with working on Dewey
Decimal system (preferred)
You will be committed and organized with excellent organizational and
communication skills. You will be able to work collaboratively with
colleagues, students and parents.
