Job description

Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the overall management of the
on-site mechanical works. As part of a multi-disciplinary construction team,
the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, monitoring and the
execution of mechanical related works.

Providing engineering and technical supports to mechanical work on site
* Implementing and monitoring on mechanical related works at site as per approved drawings and methods and safety rules
* Reviewing contractor's mechanical shop drawing in conjunction with the structural, architectural and electrical engineers to ensure engineering coordination and report accordingly
* Conducting regular inspections and assess the work performance done by contractor
* Helping to lead the team of site inspectors on mechanical related issues
* Reviewing site preparation and temporary works construction onsite for conformance with contract documents
* Supervising site installation and continually review the contractor's construction schedule during the progress of site works with regards to mechanical services
* Identifying, reporting and helping to resolve technical aspects of the mechanical services such as quality or snagging that may affect construction progress
* Maintaining an on-going list of mechanical services defects for contractor's remedial action
* Reviewing and commenting on contractor's testing and commissioning results
* Attending site progress and any mechanical services related technical meetings with the client and key project staff to resolve technical issues or other related matters
* Enforcing relevant safety rules at site and monitoring the work for compliance with security, health and safety requirements
* Assisting in the planning and sequencing of the construction operations according to the Project Quality Plan
* Monitoring progress of the work for verification of progress payments and schedule
* Providing advice to senior management in regard on any mechanical services related variation costs that may be claimed by the contractor during the course of the works
* Taking immediate corrective action to avoid any cumulative effect of such deviation and recover the delay to finish the task in due time
* Submitting site daily reports, inspection requests, estimates and applicable monitoring reports on regular basis or as required.
* Undertaking final project snagging and prepare list of defects for contractor's action

Profile

• Minimum ‎12 years relevant site activity experience related to mechanical works for construction projects


• Extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, firefighting and conveying system (elevators)


• Well versed in interpreting and executing mechanical related drawings


• Good understanding of drawings, interface between different objects and systems


• Good understanding of business critical scenarios in terms of site management and safety
