This position is located in the Resident Audit Office Internal Audit Division,
Office of Internal Oversight Services (IAD/OIOS) in Kuwait. Assignments are
undertaken in the areas of finance, management and administration and
operations. The incumbent at this level works as a member of an audit team and
usually reports to an Auditor.


The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) is the internal oversight
body of the United Nations (UN) and assists the Secretary-General in
fulfilling his oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and
staff of the Organization through the provision of audit, investigation,
inspection and evaluation services.
Responsibilities
The Audit Assistant:



  • Collects relevant information and documentation related to specific audit assignments; extracts and cleanses data from enterprise resource planning and other information systems.

  • Assists with the analysis of data using standard techniques and tools to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies

  • Assists with the preparation of data sets and data visualization

  • Traces original evidence into the records, e.g., personnel documents, budget, accounting vouchers, purchase orders, contracts, requisitions, receiving and inspection reports and invoices.

  • Assists in observing random physical inventory of property in various departments throughout the Organisation.

  • Performs other duties as may be required such as administrative-related tasks: assisting in coding and monitoring recommendations, recording of time and attendance, assisting in travel arrangements, tracking status of audit assignments, documenting minutes of section meetings,

  • Assists in organizing and maintaining the audit working papers.

    Education
    High school diploma or equivalent.
    Work Experience
    A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting,
    finance, administrative services or related area is required. The minimum
    years of relevant experience is reduced to ‎3 for candidates who possess a
    first-level university degree or higher.


Audit experience is desirable.


Experience with specialized audit software is desirable.


Experience in data science or data analytics is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations
Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations language is
desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified applicants may include an assessment exercise and a
competency-based interview.
Special Notice
This post is financed from the Regular Budget. The appointment, or assignment,
and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the post or funds,
budgetary approval, or extension of the mandate. Appointment or assignment
against this position is for an initial period of one year.
