Legal Director Egypt

What this position is about - Purpose:

Your primary responsibility will be to drive departmental strategic objectives
and handle Legal department activities. This includes providing legal advice
and guidance to Market and Factory management teams to ensure JTI's purpose
and business objectives are achieved and entrenching a credible, sustainable
JTI corporate reputation.

What will you do - Responsibilities:

• Stay abreast with government legislation and developments in the tobacco industry locally and globally and provide input into JTI's strategies concerning implications. Liaison with HQ, Legal and SRA, and local external legal counsel to produce opinions, submissions, reports and communication to the business


• Provide legal advice at the management level for both the factory and market in a manner that allows the achievement of the business objectives of the market. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the Company. Support Corporate Affairs function in the interpretation of legislation and in defining relevant strategies. Handling litigation cases and providing litigation guidance by working closely with the respective function involved in the process and the external lawyers


• Select and retain outside counsel, as the need arises, to obtain legal opinions or to handle claims and litigation. Supervise legal work of other attorneys, paralegals, and outside counsel; consult on difficult or sensitive issues


• Review, research, interpret, and prepare both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues and approve policies and procedures, regulations, bylaws, and other legal documents.
  Act as custodian of Corporate Governance, including contract and company
  secretarial management, and other legitimate documentation; research legal
  matters and recommend revisions as necessary


• Deliver the Legal training (Competition law, International Economic Sanctions, Dawn Raid) to respective employees of the cluster. Develop and run Competition law workshops for sales forces.


• Ensure the Legal function is accurately structured, reliably resourced, adequately skilled and highly engaged to efficiently support the business. Provide team members with learning & development opportunities and lead succession planning for the function


• Work collaboratively with the Regional General Counsel and HQ legal team to achieve functional objectives, and also closely collaborate with GMs and the management team to ensure the achievement of the business objectives in line with Corporate Tobacco strategies

Who are we looking for - Requirements:

• University degree in law, at least ‎5 years of holding attorney at law/advocate license


• Not less than ‎5 years of proven experience in a similar position in FMCG or a law firm, with knowledge of Regulatory Affairs and Stakeholder Management, with experience in general management


• High level of fluency in Arabic and English, with superb written and verbal skills and highly computer-literate
