Dean, College of Education

The Dean of the College of Education (CEDU) reports to the Provost and has
overall responsibility for academic leadership and administration of the CEDU.
Dean of CEDU manages administrative functions of the College; develops College
strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and
policy setting; provides senior-level administrative leadership in areas of
curriculum development, faculty academic affairs, students’ life,
institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty evaluation,
promotion, career development; manages and facilitates the growth of research
and development programs; develops and manages the College budget and
finances; coordinates with facilities planning and management; cultivates
partnerships with industry, foundations, and government organizations; leads
College fundraising and cultivates relationships with donors.

The College of Education (CEDU) of the United Arab Emirates University is the
first and highest-ranked College of Education in the United Arab Emirates.
CEDU has a pre-eminent reputation in the Middle East and the wider Arab World.
CEDU offers undergraduate degrees to prepare teachers in the fields of early
childhood education, special education, and physical education. The graduate
level provision at the College is extensive, including: a Masters of Education
(MEd) program with concentrations in: Early Childhood Education; Special
Education; Educational Leadership; and Curriculum and Instruction
(Mathematics, Science, Arabic, English and Social Studies); a Masters of
Educational Innovation offered in cooperation with Hamdan Bin Rashid Al
Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance; and an Accelerated
Masters in Special Education (‎4+‎1). Recently the College has established an
innovative Dual Master of Education with the Education University of Hong Kong
In addition, Doctoral level programs are offered in: Language and Literacy
Education; Mathematics Education; Science Education; Leadership and Policy
Studies in Education; and Special Education. Partnerships with high profile
organizations are very important to the College. One notable collaboration is
the establishment of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Research Center for
Motherhood and Childhood, hosted at the College of Education and established
in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. In
collaboration with Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, CEDU
successfully developed the first Adaptive Behaviour Scale for People of
Determination. This is the first scale in the world that combines the direct
examination of a child by the specialist and the caregiver’s assessment of
certain aspects of their growth in addition to the teachers’ ratings. The
College of Education holds international accreditation from the Council for
the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. Faculty research interests
encompass four major specializations including curriculum and instruction,
special education, educational leadership and foundations of education, and
physical education. CEDU faculty are involved in international joint research,
and successfully being awarded two collaborative research grants with Oxford
University and University College London. The CEDU publishes the International
Journal for Research in Education (IJRE) in Arabic and English, which serves
educational researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, and administrators in
the United Arab Emirates, the Arab region and beyond. This position of CEDU
Dean provides an outstanding opportunity to lead one of the oldest Colleges in
the University and one of the most prominent education colleges in the Middle
East. We are seeking an ambitious and highly qualified individual who would be
able to make a mark in this dynamic region and take the College into its
