Smart Cities Consultant

Job Description:
Position Overview: This exciting opportunity requires a dynamic and
innovative professional to lead and develop all aspects of Parsons' expanding
services into technology and smart cities throughout the Middle East. The role
includes the delivery of a range of technically complex advisory projects in
the smart city sector and will demand a candidate with a track record of
leading teams and managing multiple concurrent projects.
An extensive knowledge of the smart city ecosystem is essential with an
appreciation of trends and developments across the technology sector and how
they relate to urban living. The candidate should be able to demonstrate their
ability to identify client needs and translate them into masterplans and
solutions.
The role requires strong presentation and report writing skills and the
candidate should have an appreciation of the full lifecycle of services
including advisory, engineering and implementation.
The role is based out of Saudi Arabia but will involve frequent travel
throughout the Middle East.
Responsibilities:
* As part of the delivery team within the regional Smart Cities practice, lead the development and delivery of smart city advisory projects in Saudi Arabia and support projects across the Middle East.
* Develop client relationships, identify opportunities and drive growth.
* Lead and support tender responses for smart city initiatives and related fields as part of larger programmes of work.
* Support the Smart Cities delivery organization to identify and develop innovative approaches to deliver smart city advisory services efficiently and effectively across the Middle East.
* Manage project teams with a range of expertise, in particular to mentor junior staff into more senior roles.
* Work with the cross-cutting team of experts to identify and build relevant industry partnerships to support the smart city strategy; represent Parsons at relevant industry events
* Establish strong working relationships with other technical teams (master planning, sustainability, energy, water, etc) and related entities in order to build capacity and share knowledge/strategies
* Leads current and futures trends and serve as an internal and external subject matter expert for smart city offerings.
* Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Education & Experience:
* Minimum: Bachelor degree in a technology / engineering related field; Master degree and chartered status is preferred but not required
* At least ‎5-‎10 years successful experience in managing the delivery of various technology-driven advisory projects, with a special emphasis on Middle East region; candidates with experience in digital urbanism, digital master planning, and smart city projects preferred
* Proven ability to identify opportunities, build client relationships and win and deliver advisory services in the smart city sector.
* Experienced in identifying strategies and technologies to improve city living, enhance the quality of life and ensure city resilience is optimized.
* Demonstrable experience in mentoring and leading teams of engineers and staff that are critical to business growth; lead the coordination across cross-cutting teams engaged in strategy, business development and project delivery
* As a recognized professional in the smart cities industry, the candidate shall be the representative of Parsons at public forums/events; preferred candidates will have proven experience of publishing thought pieces, journal papers and possess extensive experience presenting at industry relevant conferences and events
* Identification of new areas of work, to keep ahead of industry trends identifying opportunities to diversify the portfolio and disrupt the industry
* The candidate must demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills. The candidate should be able to prepare reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner and have the ability to pay careful attention to details.
* The candidate shall have excellent project management and communication skills.
* Arabic is a plus but not essential
