Smart Cities and IoT Manager

Job Description:
Position Overview: This exciting opportunity requires a dynamic and
innovative professional to lead and develop Parsons' expanding services into
technology and smart cities in Saudi Arabia. The role includes the delivery of
a technically complex advisory project in the smart city sector and will
demand a candidate with a track record of leading teams to deliver whole
lifecycle projects from strategic advisory through to implementation.
An extensive knowledge of the smart city ecosystem is essential with an
appreciation of trends and developments across the technology sector and how
they relate to entertainment, tourism and urban living. The candidate should
be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop visions and
concepts into masterplans and solutions.
The role requires strong presentation and report writing skills and the
candidate should have an appreciation of the full lifecycle of services
including advisory, engineering and implementation.
The role is based in Saudi Arabia but may involve travel throughout the Middle
East.
Responsibilities:
* As part of the Smart Cities delivery organization, lead all activities related to smart city and IoT for a major development programme in Saudi Arabia
* Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert for smart city offerings, with a focus on ICT infrastructure, data centers and command and control facilities
* Provide support to smart city projects across the Middle East
* Work with the regional smart cities practice to identify and develop client relationships to drive growth in the region
* Manage project teams with a range of expertise, in particular to mentor junior staff into more senior roles.
* Lead and support tender responses for smart city initiatives and related fields as part of larger programmes of work.
* Represent Parsons at relevant industry events
* Establish strong working relationships with other technical teams (master planning, sustainability, energy, water, etc) and related entities in order to build capacity and share knowledge/strategies
* Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor degree in a technology / engineering related field; Master degree and chartered status is preferred but not required
* At least ‎10-‎15 years successful experience in managing the delivery of various technology-driven advisory projects, with a special emphasis on Middle East region;
* Demonstrable experience in providing advisory services in ICT infrastructure (fixed and mobile), digital master planning, and smart city projects
* Technically competent in IoT technologies and demonstrates an awareness of global and regional industry trends
* Experienced in performing resiliency and risk based analyses
* Proven ability to work in a customer facing and consulting environment.
* Demonstrable experience in mentoring and leading teams of engineers and staff that are critical to business growth; lead the coordination across cross-cutting teams engaged in strategy, business development and project delivery
* As a recognized professional in the smart cities industry, the candidate shall be the representative of Parsons at public forums/events; preferred candidates will have proven experience of publishing thought pieces, journal papers and possess extensive experience presenting at industry relevant conferences and events
* Identification of new areas of work, to keep ahead of industry trends identifying opportunities to diversify the portfolio and disrupt the industry
* The candidate must demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills. The candidate should be able to prepare reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner and have the ability to pay careful attention to details.
* The candidate shall have excellent project management and communication skills.
* Arabic is a plus but not essential.
