Production Planner

SUMMARY:
Plan, schedule, and release manufactured and purchased parts and assemblies in
an efficient manner while supporting company objectives regarding inventory,
sales volume, product cost, scheduling and customer demands. Provide guidance
and leadership to other planning personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
‎1. Brings problems encountered to the Production Coordinator & Systems
Manager's attention or to other resources for resolution.
‎2. Demonstrate the capability to work independently on complex and multiple
projects requiring judgment to resolve problems.
‎3. Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies,
guiding principles, procedures and programs; including but not limited to the
process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements.
‎4. Approve, release and monitor status of production and purchase
requisitions.
‎5. Provide technical and administrative support to manufacturing.
‎6. Develop and provide input to Manufacturing build plan.
‎7. Develop priorities and communicate support functions while taking an
active role in problem resolution as required.
‎8. Coordinate with all shop departments to ensure proper inventory levels -
maintain knowledge of plant operations and equipment design to plan properly.
‎9. Review and release work orders per the system demand, manage the system
recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the
metrics for the organization
‎10. Periodically review non-conformances and engineering changes to rework
any work orders as required
‎11. Regularly updates work order due dates based on fluctuations in in-house
capacity and the delivery schedules from vendors
‎12. Keep the Planning manager aware about changes in the delays at work
centers/machines and/or routers that would affect the lead time of the part so
that the system can be kept up-to-date.
‎13. Regularly monitor and update safety stock levels in the system when
necessary.
‎14. Schedules, expedites, and coordinates the delivery and movement of
critical material.
‎15. Interpret bills of material, scopes, and specifications for customer
orders to determine the content & plan manageable work elements.
‎16. All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Technical Requirements ( software or program knowledge needed
):
* • Microsoft Office & Outlook knowledge an asset
* • Previous MRP (Materials Resource Planning) experience
* • Knowledge of Oracle and Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) is preferred
HSE Requirements (Training and Physical Requirements):
* • Stair climbing, indoor work, exposure to change of temperature and humidity, exposure to dust fumes and gases, and working near moving equipment
* • HSE Orientation
Qualification, knowledge and experience:

* BS level degree or equivalent in Business, Purchasing/Materials, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience
* ‎1 - ‎2 years experience in inventory control and planning
* Basic understanding of master scheduling, MRP, MRP-II and CRP
* CPIM certification desirable.
* Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written)
* Knowledge of the principals, practices & techniques of planning
