LMS Material Flow Lead

Job Description

Local (‎65%)
* Ensure full engagement in the achievement of the Business Plan Deployment targets in safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost, and environment, according to a standardized process using GMS (Global Manufacturing System) tools.
* Ensure full compliance with GM safety and environmental standards, conduct regular tour and assessments.
* Manage material flow team to develop all in-plant material flow strategies as well as packaging concepts, prototype, loop size calculation/analysis, methods development for new designs and approval of packaging for productive material as well as designing of storage area layout, equipment and racking in accordance with LMS & GMS standards.
* Create, and lead the implementation of LMS strategic plan, part presentation strategy and lead the LMS cross functional committee, workshops and management review to optimize overall total enterprise cost.
* Development of medium to long range Planning for systems/processes/manpower to support both material flow & packaging/containerization in order to optimize total enterprise cost
* Lead the packing engineers to develop and maintain PFEP (Plan for Every Part), warehouses' layouts for running and new programs.
* Drive sustainable packing concepts to adhere with global sustainable packing strategies
* Manage packaging engineers for continuous improvement and resolution of packaging issues with GM Egypt direct material suppliers both Local & Overseas suppliers.
* Conduct annual forecasting and budget setting for both portfolio projects and structure cost. Manage all purchasing activities, budget allocation and spending tracking.
* Develop the business cases and provide costs data for Operational Excellence projects justification/evaluation for LMS and packaging projects
* Manage IT portfolio projects related to Material Handling team
* Lead, plan, and monitor the implementation of GMS Short Lead Time principles and provides coaching for all stakeholders within GM Egypt.
* Oversee the time study analysis for all material handling operational activities through Global Material Optimization System (GMOS). Select the productivity improvement priorities and plan for implementation in coordination with material handling operation lead.
* Lead Material Launch Readiness Team (MRLT) with cross-functional members to provide information, direction and establish priorities during each phase of the program cycle. Present the packaging and material flow readiness and status in PQRR.
* Manage Future packaging readiness during new portfolio project planning activity
* Lead the material flow engineer in establishing delivery routes and process for bulk and small lot containers within the Plant.

Regional (‎15%)
* Represent GM Egypt in regional SLT/LMS calls. Share new practices and changes with GM Egypt team
* Report LMS score card and share best practices to LMS shop director within regional SLT/LMS calls.
* Plan, submit and follow-up on the implementation of the Plan for Every Plant strategy.
* Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to other GMI plants.

Global (‎20%)
* Represent GM Egypt in Global Sustainable Packaging committee & monthly calls
* Lead GM Egypt Material Handling IT-portfolio projects implementation and regular project meetings
* Participate in Global GMOS call
* Lead packaging improvement workshops with source plants to drive overseas packaging improvement.
* Act as a liaison for new processes, GRA communication and implementation
* Member of MFG University Course Implementation Team for Lean Material Strategy module.
