JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the
Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment,
support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi
Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel
safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and
weapons.

The Job Holder is responsible for controlling and managing personnel and
resources pertinent to Forward maintenance Line activities in support of the
RSAF Typhoon Flying programme and generate aircraft to achieve the contracted
Operational Ready Rates in accordance with best industry practice, BAE Systems
procedures, the Maintenance Organisation Exposition and the RSAF Regulatory
Framework
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Deputising for the Production Superintendent in their absence. (Ensuring all authorisations are held to be able to deputise, F700 Co-ord, Reconcile etc)
* Managing their available manpower by co-ordinating with Maintenance Management and Production Lead to ensure aircraft generation and flying requirements are achieved this includes: Leave, shift allocation, support to flight line (launch and recovery), EOR duty and Hit Team duty.
* Managing their manpower to ensure adherence to the use of approved data.
* Raising Technical Publication Review Forms (TPRF) against approved data and Technical Requests (TRs) for any aircraft related anomalies.
* Spares demands are accurate and review of FDDs to meet aircraft operations.
* Ensure that senior supervisors are conducting shift without ambiguity.
* Ensure that tool control procedures are carried and that random checks of the assigned specialist tool kits (10% checks, damaged tools etc) are conducted.
* Ensure that all Mechanical Aircraft personnel adhere to good husbandry practices by carrying out random post maintenance reviews of the work area.
* Manage engineering authorisations and ensure that personnel are re-trained/re-authorised to maintain efficient support to the operation.
* Carry out independent checks of ESS for consistency and accuracy
* Carry out PMDS downloads and assess arisings including SHM and EHM analysis.
* Carry out independent checks on flight safety critical systems as mandated in regulatory framework.
* Support the BAE Systems Management in addressing any QA or higher HQ reports including investigations.
* Support and promote the 'spot it report it', TERS and FOD prevention programmes.
* Liaise with the training department and co-ordinate RSAF consolidation training within their trade.
* Providing coaching and mentoring for assigned BAE Systems SA and RSAF personnel including annual ePDRs.
* Ensuring personal standards are maintained and adherence to the CoC and RBC by their assigned manpower.
* Ensure aircrew debriefings are conducted.
* Monitor aircraft for repeat or recurring defects and previous maintenance actions already taken.
* Monitor negative trends in manpower or maintenance that could impact the safety of the operation.
* Provide assistance as the SME for their trade in troubleshooting/fault finding as necessary.
* Provide support to any aircraft deployments or detachments by allocating manpower and coordinating AGE/Tool/Spares requirements.
* Monitoring DLF availability and identifying new candidates.
* Support the Forward Training and Support Manager in the management of the facilities by reporting any defects.
* Raising any ROID or deficiency paperwork for items received from supply that are damaged or considered not fit for purpose.
* Welfare and discipline of all assigned BAE Systems staff under their control in conjunction with other Management and Supervisory staff.
* Completing any other reasonable duties or requests that are made by your line management
* Counterpart development of assigned RSAF personnel to achieve 2nd and 3rd Signature levels (Certifying Staff).
* Demonstrating certain behaviours in all the work undertaken and in interactions with other maintenance personnel in line with M&CA People Behaviours BAESKSA-ENG-MCA-GOV-005.
* Support and participate in the reporting of ALL Product Safety & Environmental "OCCURRENCES", promoting a "Just Culture". This provides for a working environment of trust where all employees, all of whom are professionals, each have a clear understanding of what standard of behaviour is considered acceptable or unacceptable.
* Promote and support the Salam Operations Quality Management System by understanding the requirements of AS9110. Promotion of customer focus throughout the organisation whilst recognising and highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement (CI).
* Responsible for achievable success against the Forward Maintenance Support Service contracted Operational Readiness (OR) and consolidation KPIs.
* Advising the Maintenance Management of any engineering or supply problems likely to jeopardise flight safety or significantly affect the published flying programme.
* Advising the Maintenance Management of any practice, procedure or system, which threatens the safety or quality of the Fwd Maint logistics effort.
* In consultation with Maintenance Management or Maintenance Squadron Commander (MSC) as appropriate, ensuring the compilation and timely release of Flt Safety and Ground Incident Reports, including all Follow Up reports.
* Responsible for training and maintaining appropriate maintenance incident team cover during training flying operations.
* Responsible for Fwd Maint representation in the Typhoon Support Centre (TSC) Integrated Logistic Operation Centre (ILOC) meeting to provide the current state and engage on any maintenance issues or taskings.
* Responsible for ensuring the Trade Desks are able to effectively liaise with the MOF, 3 Sqn Operations and Fleet Planning for appropriate allocation of aircraft to the flying programme and integrate fully the Forward Maintenance and operational activities.
* Act as the trade specific point of contact with internal and external organisations for maintenance planning, modifications and issues.
* Responsible for completion of weekly trade standards and practices quality checks (physical and ESS).
* Conduct the competency and performance evaluations IAW BAESSA-SSS-FwdMaint-LPP003.
* Ensuring that all personnel under their management are suitably trained and authorised for their primary duties and encouraging the personal and professional development of their workforce.
* Ensuring all maintenance personnel read and understand current and issued updates to policy, approved data and notices within a timely manner.
* As a Line Manager exercising your delegated health and safety responsibilities for all personnel employed in or attached to areas under your control, including other persons who may be affected by their work activities.
* Maintaining and adhering to the Dignity and Respect Policy within Forward Maintenance and ensuring that the working environment is free from all forms of harassment and discrimination and take appropriate action, where required.
* As a Line Manager within the Typhoon maintenance organisation demonstrate their commitment to the SMS/QMS by communicating the importance of meeting safety and quality requirements, including those legal and regulatory requirements, placed upon all personnel within the organisation.
* Responsible for ensuring Oversight Checks and Health and Safety tours are carried out of all Forward Maintenance operating areas on a scheduled basis and are reported into the Senior Support Specialist.
* Acting as the trade specific point of contact for all outside agencies and working parties that require engagement with Forward Maintenance.
* Assist in the forward planning of Forward Maintenance to develop efficiency and continuous improvement in conjunction with the Maintenance Managers direction.
* Support to the Support and Training Management and Consolidation Cell for all consolidation requirements.
* Ensuring completion of all mandated training (HF, CoC, etc) for trade personnel.
* Co-ordination with Forward Maintenance Training and Support Management of all
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
* Have extensive proven post qualification practical maintenance experience within operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR extensive proven experience on same aircraft type
* Have extensive experience in a relevant management role.
* Typhoon Q Course and equipment specific training if required.
* Must have experience working knowledge of EASA Part 145
* Leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel.
* Qualified to HNC / HND (with military add on training applicable to trade) or national civilian / military equivalent and successful completion of a recognised national aircraft maintenance traineeship / apprenticeship
* National Aircraft Maintenance Qualifications as agreed by the Directorate. This includes, but is not limited to:
* Royal Saudi Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Qualifications (Skill Level 7)
* UK Royal Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Qualifications
* Other Military Aircraft Maintenance Qualifications as agreed by the directorate
* EASA (Part 66) Aircraft Maintenance Qualifications (Cat A,B, or C) or GACA equivalent.
* BAE Systems Saudi Arabia Trained Aircraft Maintenance Personnel (SNTTP/ TSNTTP/FLMP).
* Applicants holding other nationally awarded Aircraft Maintenance Qualifications should consult the Directorate
* For non-native English speakers, English Language proficiency equivalent to (IELTS 4.5).
Desirable
* Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures
* Broad aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge
* Proven supervisory experience within the area of definition
* Currently working in an aircraft maintenance organisation conducting or supporting Line (Forward) Maintenance of military fast-jets (Typhoon preferred).
* Proven track record supervising Armament aircraft maintenance supervisors and technicians and associated resources at 'shift manager' level, maintaining military fast jet aircraft (Typhoon preferred).
* Excellent man management and people development competencies. Management experience with proven ability to manage junior engineering personnel.
* High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a large number of diverse and complex activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct the decision making process at all levels.
* Experience of multi-tasking to manage a diverse range of engineering and management activities.
* Demonstrable experience working as a Armament certifying supervisor and technician conducting Line (Forward) Maintenance on a busy, military operational flying unit.
* Fully conversant with European Aviation Safety Agency aircraft maintenance regulations or military equivalents such as UK MoD Defence Standard 05-130.
* Experience working in a NATO air force maintaining Armament systems on military aircraft.
* Experience as a mentor, coach or instructor in an aircraft maintenance environment.
* Experience conducting Line Maintenance of aircraft in a Gulf Coast Country.
