The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian
agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world
achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to
ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most
vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food
they need.
The CSP focuses on five interrelated thematic areas:
* Support and complement the Government's social protection programs;
* Support the refugees and migrants through food assistance and resilience building;
* Improve the nutritional status of Egyptians with a focus on Pregnant and Lactating Women and infants under two years of age;
* Support resilience of vulnerable smallholder farmers and Bedouin communities in Upper Egypt and frontier Governorates; and
* Provide capacity strengthening to the Government and support South-South cooperation between Egypt and neighbouring countries.
WFP Egypt is currently designing a follow-on CSP for 2023-2028 building on
lessons learned from the previous strategy. The Incumbent would therefore be
expected to provide support to policy and programme activities that
effectively meet food assistance needs especially as they pertain to
integrated, climate-adaptative agriculture and the resilience building of
rural and Bedouin communities in Egypt.
To contribute to the VAM evidence base that supports food security and
nutrition policies and programmes (e.g. needs assessment and situation
analyses, programme design, targeting, cost effectiveness, and operational
efficiency).
