Perform research functions under the direction of the immediate supervisor


Responsibilities



  • Conduct experiments and assays related to assigned projects within the department as well as in collaboration with other departments and groups.

  • Presentations of experimental results at lab meetings or other forums

  • Present and discuss progress reports on a regular basis

  • Maintenance of detailed experimental records, lab notes and logbooks

  • Troubleshoots and optimizes assays and maintains careful records

  • Participates in general housekeeping tasks in the laboratory

  • Assists with the maintenance of inventory of reagents and chemicals

  • Performs other duties as assigned by scientist/ Head of department and comply with institute policies

  • Carries out wide range of laboratory duties under minimum supervision

  • Analyze experimental results using relevant statistical methods, and prepare graphics for PowerPoint


Required Skills and Expertise:



  • Essential: Experience working with animals, cell culture, histology, molecular biology (PCR, Cas9, transfections), and/or cell biology (FACS, enzyme assays, imaging).

  • Desirable: Experience in metabolic disease models (e.g. diet-induced obesity), immunology

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of collaborative teams

  • Should be well organized, self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills

  • Experience in taking part in funded research as appropriate to the discipline

  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English are mandatory
