Who We Are Looking For
A Maintenance Supervisor Mechanic who can promote continuous maintenance and
improvement of all technical equipment (electrical) on KCA Deutag drilling
rigs to guarantee safe, effective and trouble-free operations.
The position carries significant responsibility in terms of ensuring the
maintenance whilst applying Company safety regulations.
* Execution of rig inspections as well planning of resulting overhauls of all electrical equipment
* Analysis of "damage to property" incidents and issue of reports
* Professional interpretation of third party reports (i.e. check-up and repair reports of service companies)
* Instruct and supervise service companies for repairs and calibration of measurement systems and devices
* Skilled support and coordination of operational set-up and major repairs.
* Professional support of rig electricians
* Communicate to customers and suppliers to clarify organisational, objective matters and target dates
* Planning and assembly of electrical equipment for drilling rigs
* Check and analysis of proactive preventative maintenance and inspection data (PPM/INS jobs)
* Coordination of all necessary activities regarding service companies
* Supports manager regarding manpower planning of rig electricians
* Supports manager in the preparation, improvement and optimisation of business processes
* Supports colleagues from other departments (tasks to be discussed and agreed on separately with Manager)
* Participates in projects (tasks to be discussed and agreed on separately with Manager)
* Provides support for special duties within the department and organisation as assigned by the Manager
* Ensure that measurement and test equipment is correctly calibrated and records maintained up to date
* Working with Maintenance Superintendent ensure rig stocks reflect critical and local requirements
* Participate in troubleshooting and corrective maintenance issues.
Supervises :
Senior Mechanics, Senior Electricians, Mechanics, Electricians, Welders.
Supports :
Operations and maintenance teams with technical queries guidance etc.

Responsibilities
* Safety is a line responsibility. Each individual member of the company should be aware of his responsibility to ensure safe working in his respective area. Apply Company safety regulations.
* To lead by example and provide direction and encouragement to other maintenance staff so that all works is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with KCA DEUTAG HSSE policiesObtain the necessary safety clearance for the nature/type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE Adviser and in accordance with safety procedures (i.e. WORK PERMIT).
* Ensure that all employees under their authority have sufficient information and knowledge to carry out their job without endangering any persons, plant or equipment and are adequately trained and experienced for a particular task before they are instructed to carry it out.
* Explain to the persons concerned the visible and hidden hazards involved in the jobs. (Job Safety Analysis / Pre job meeting).
* Instruct personnel before commencing the work to the safety precautions and measures to be observed at work (toolbox meetings).
* Promptly report to line management, any violation of safety regulations by the personnel, even if this violation has not resulted in an accident.
* Ensure that health and safety at work and accident prevention are continuously brought to the attention of all employees under their authority by means of job supervision, instruction and training.
* Ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.
* Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with Group repair and preventative maintenance procedures as directed by immediate supervisor.
* Ensure that all Third Party personnel including Service Engineers comply with Group and Installation Safety Procedures.
* Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is maintained at all times in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service, including tools and instruments in their care.
* Ensure that an adequate supply of spare parts is maintained on the installation and is stored in environmentally sound conditions.
* Update or modify any drawings, sketches or information on existing and replacement equipment as required or provide such information to management.
* Carry out tasks as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate.
* Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
* Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
* Monitor any rig equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for use within the areas desired.
* Carry out competence assessment in respect of departmental staff.
Key Skills & Experience
* Technical qualification or proven industry experience
* Good spoken English (other languages desirable / advantageous)
* Good Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
* Experience / Knowledge of SAP Modules PM
* Analytical thinker; capable of analyzing situations accurately and systematically; identify variances
* Self-motivator; capable of organising self to achieve goals within a reasonable timeframe.
* Assertiveness; capable of performing goal-oriented tasks within a given timeframe
* Determination; capable of working on own initiative to take decisions on the basis of information available within a given timeframe
* Ability to work constructively and confidentially as part of a team to achieve common goals
* Experience of the workings and repair of Drilling Rigs and their equipment desirable.
