Job Summary:
As a Cost Accountant in the Food and Beverage industry, you will be
responsible for analyzing, tracking, and managing the cost of raw materials,
production, and distribution.
You will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate cost
allocation, maintain inventory control, and contribute to cost-saving
initiatives. This role is crucial in helping the company maintain
profitability and make informed financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis:
Analyze and monitor the cost of raw materials, packaging, and other
production-related expenses.
Review and reconcile cost variances and discrepancies.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
Inventory Control:
Manage and oversee inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and compliance with
company policies.
Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile them with financial
records.
Implement inventory valuation methods and maintain accurate records.
Cost Allocation:
Allocate production costs accurately to finished goods.
Collaborate with production teams to track labor, overhead, and other costs
associated with manufacturing processes.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of cost data to relevant stakeholders.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts related to food and
beverage production costs.
Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, providing variance
analysis and insights.
Reporting:
Prepare and distribute cost-related reports to management.
Generate financial statements and reports that highlight cost-related metrics.
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as requested.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations related to cost
accounting.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation
and explanations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to streamline
processes and optimize cost efficiencies.
Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA
certification is a plus.
Proven experience as a cost accountant in the food and beverage industry or a
similar manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and
financial analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
