The Business Excellence PM will be a member of Apache’s Business Excellence
(BE) team, reporting to the Business Excellence Manager.
Led by the Director of Business Excellence, the BE group is responsible for
delivering a portfolio of strategic transformation and continuous improvement
projects across the company, and acts as internal consultants, adapting to the
needs of the company as priorities change.
The Business Excellence Project Manager will play a key role in managing and
delivering high impact process improvement projects within the portfolio and
will be responsible for:


This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
Building the project portfolio
Partnering with leaders and subject matter experts to understand their
challenges, identify improvement opportunities, and lead change.
Investigating shortfalls and issues in current business processes.
Eliciting requirements and driving process change using staff interviews,
document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business
process descriptions, business and workflow analysis.
Facilitating process improvement workshops to drive ideas and solutions;
pulling from various methodologies to achieve outcomes (e.g., Lean Six Sigma,
TQM, Kaizen, design/system thinking, human centered design etc.)
Developing project business cases and supporting the portfolio prioritization
process.
Managing Continuous Improvement Projects
Developing enhancement strategies that deliver increased value and greater
efficiency by identifying and eliminating unnecessary complexity within
business processes or identifying of better ways of working.
Analyzing and mapping improvements to processes, procedures, and norms by
leveraging various methodologies in a fit for purpose manner.
Establishing project structure: project plans, governance, and reporting.
Identifying, reporting and managing business impacts & project objectives.
Monitoring project risks to proactively identify issues and solutions.
Facilitating project progress while managing costs and benefits realization.
Delivering rapid value to business through Minimal Viable Products (MVPs),
prototypes, and pilots.
Thinking strategically and working tactically.
Promoting organizational change and project adoption
Building relationships and trust with stakeholders to gain goal alignment.
Owning initiatives through project lifecycle - identification to sustainment.
Partnering with support functions (e.g., HR, IT, etc.) to deliver outcomes.
Developing executive materials that concisely articulate the message.
Measuring implementation success and adapting plans based on outcomes.
Enabling project teams’ success and professional development
Leading team to achieve project objectives - demonstrating what good looks
like.
Mentoring cross-functional team members on continuous improvement practices,
and methodologies. Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and
experience:
At least ‎5 years of experience leading process improvement projects for large
companies, with at least ‎3 years of experience in the upstream energy
industry; consulting experience is highly desired.
An undergraduate degree from a competitive four-year college or university.
Lean Six Sigma, Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Certified
Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or similar certifications a plus.


Experience includes:
Project management
Business process analysis and optimization (such as Kaizen, 5s, Lean
Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping)
Organizational change management
Communications
Workshop facilitation
Managing teams
Experience in analyzing complex processes and multi-faceted problems and
developing solutions to simplify and streamline.
Ability to identify what needs to be done and proactively address needs, in
some cases with limited oversight or direction.
Strong attention to detail.
Intellectually curious, willing to tackle all types of work, and an eager
learner.
Demonstrated ability to adapt communications, interpersonal style and work
product for different situations and audiences.
Capability to prioritize effectively and work quickly and decisively with
multiple projects happening in parallel.
Ability to work in a matrix environment, collaborating across functions to
achieve goals.
Ability to lead through ambiguity, identify themes and distill information for
various audiences.
Ability to inspire others to perform their best and create a positive team
