Manages and performs optometric evaluation on children and adult patients and
prescribes corrective action to gain normal and efficient vision.
1. Examines eyes by means of instrumentation and observation to determine
visual efficiency and performance, diseases, and other abnormalities and
prescribes corrective procedures; to include fitting of glasses and contact
lenses, conventional and soft; improves and corrects vision through use of
lensesand prisms, vision therapy, visual training, and control of visual
environment.
2. Examines patients for visual pathology or ocular manifestations of
systemic diseases, and refers those with pathological conditions to the
Ophthalmologist for further diagnosis and treatment.
3. Treats and manages of the binocular vision anomalies in children and
improve visual efficiency and performance of ocular motility.
4. Assess and treats of partially sighted patients' (legally blind) by means
of low vision aid and visual rehabilitation.
5. Treats and manages of contact lens related eye problems.
6. Establishes and supervise training program for optometry interns and
ophthalmology residents.
7. Supervise and evaluate other staff optometrists.
8. Prescribes specific ocular medications for specific eye diseases.
9. Provides in-clinic service lectures to the eye staff as part of continuous
education.
10. Evaluates optometrist, orthoptist and all rotating optometry interns.
11. Follows all hospital related policies and procedures.
12. Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as
applicable.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
PhD or Master 's Degree in Optometry is required.
Six (6) years of experience in practice of Optometry with PhD, or eight (8) of
similar requirements with Master 's Degree is required.
Qualification: * Master degree in Optometry. * Valid registration from SCFHS. Experience: * Two (2) years experience in similar field.
