The British Embassies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have a vacancy for a Government
Relations Assistant on a fixed-term contract for two (2) years.
The Government Relations Department is vital to the efficient running of the
British Diplomatic missions in the UAE. The purpose of this role is to provide
administrative support to the Government Relations teams based in Abu Dhabi
and Dubai in the UAE.
Duties and responsibilities:*
* Respond to written and telephone inquiries in a timely manner.
* Ensuring all Government Relations documentation is filed accurately and in a timely manner.
* Managing the Government Relations inbox and responding to general inquiries and forwarding e-mails related to different requests to the Government Relations Officer(s) assigned with the tasks.
* Preparing, organising and storing files and folders in paper and digital form.
* Provide support to ensure updates and information in the landing page are accurate and guidance for customers is appropriate and up to date.
* Take part in the Embassy emergency planning and response to a crisis affecting UK citizens.
* Maintain up to date contact list for the team.
* Maintaining SOPs for all the different services.
* Obtaining and maintaining visa application processes for UK-based and County-based staff
* Providing guidance about UAE processes and procedures.
* Carrying out any other reasonable ad hoc duties to support the Government Relations
The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be
flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating
in the Embassy 's emergency planning and any response to a crisis.

Eligibility:*
* Applications will only be considered from those who are currently residing in the UAE and with a current and valid UAE resident visa.
* Applicants must be able to obtain a valid UAE police clearance certificate.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English and Arabic, both oral and written, at all levels. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and organisational skills, including ability to organise and prioritise workloads, organise records, meet deadlines and maintain close attention to detail;
* Demonstrated ability and experience in an administrative support position and with excellent skills in MS Office programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams);
* A team player who is capable of working on his or her own initiative, and is adaptable to changing priorities. Must be able to work and act without close supervision;
* Excellent customer care skills and the ability to respond to a range of customer needs;
* Be thorough and pay attention to detail.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration
package for this role, which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated
pro-rata)
Salary is at AED 9,112 per month.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No
accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this
position.
The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:00. Conditioned
working hours are 35 hours per week, and specific working hours for this role
will be confirmed at a later time.
Whilst the role may be based in either Abu Dhabi or Dubai, the jobholder may
be required to visit the Embassy in the other Emirate, subject to operational
needs. The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as
these will also be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out
of hours (evenings/ weekends). Flexible working arrangements may be considered
based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in
line with FCDO and Embassy policies.
The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the
Embassy's sponsorship.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take
around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks
available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for
the role and the candidates profile and UK footprint. You may experience some
delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to
minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a
'reserve list'. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a
largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second
or subsequent candidate.
The start date mentioned in the job advert is a tentative start date and the
successful candidate will be required to undergo security-vetting procedures.
Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable
clearances.
