Summary
The School Nurse will be part of a small dynamic team staffing the nurses'
office. The nurse will be required to provide health care and emergency first
aid services to students and employees on the ISG Dhahran Campus.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
* Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)
* Provide healthcare to students and staff who have been injured or who present with acute illnesses. Care may involve the treatment of health problems within the scope of nursing practice, communication with parents for treatment, and referral to other health care providers. The school nurse uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for students with chronic health conditions. The school nurse is responsible for medication administration and the performance of health care procedures within the scope of nursing practice. The school nurse also assists faculty and staff in monitoring chronic health conditions
* Provide leadership for the provision of health services. As the health care expert within the school, the school nurse assesses the overall system of care and develops a plan for ensuring that health needs are met. It also includes developing a plan for responding to emergencies and disasters, and training staff to respond appropriately
* Screen and refer to health conditions. In order to address potential health problems that are barriers to learning or symptoms of underlying medical conditions, the school nurse engages in screening activities, referrals, and follow-up
* Promote a healthy school environment, for the physical and emotional safety of the school community. The school nurse monitors immunizations, ensures appropriate exclusion from school, and reports communicable diseases as required. The school nurse provides leadership to the school in implementing precautions for bloodborne pathogens and other infectious diseases, assesses the physical environment of the school, and takes action to improve health and safety
* Promotes good health. Provides health education by distributing information/guidance to students, teachers, and families. The school nurse is a member of the coordinated school health team that promotes the health and well-being of school members through collaborative efforts
* Liaise between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers. The school nurse communicates with the family through telephone calls and written communication and serves as a representative of the school community. The school nurse also communicates with other health care providers while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
* Provide medical support to after-school sports activities on campus
* Take on additional roles/hours to meet the needs of the school community, and any other duties as assigned by the Lead Nurse
* Perform other duties assigned by the Lead Nurse

Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
* Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a related field of study (Medical degree / Nursing degree)
* Prior experience as a school nurse
* Current certification/registration for a nursing license in the home country
* Current valid CPR certification

* Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
* Experience in working within a school or community setting
* Minimum of ‎3 years experience working in the medical field as a healthcare provider
