Assistant Professor of Education (Leadership)
American University of Ras Al Khaimah

Job Summary: The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the
American University of Ras Al Khaimah seeks a fulltime faculty member at the
rank of Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership starting August ‎2023. We
welcome candidates whose (‎1) teaching promotes student success and meaningful
attainment; (‎2) whose research employs quantitative, qualitative, rhetorical,
or mixed methods, and (‎3) whose service is undertaken to promote their
citizenship in the School and University.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: A balance between
research/scholarship, instruction, and service will be required for continued
professional advancement. The teaching load will be ‎12-credit hours at the
graduate level. Candidates are expected to have professional experience in
school systems, as both a teacher and senior administrator. Candidates must be
prepared to promote active learning by students through the use of high-impact
educational practices suitable for Graduate level instruction, and implement
authentic assessment tools. Service expectations include participating in
school and university committees and contributing to the discipline through
involvement with professional associations. The Department currently offers a
Master of Education in Leadership and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education in
Leadership.
Minimum Qualifications: A terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in
Educational Leadership, or closely related field, relevant teaching experience
with evidence of use of high-impact educational practices, and a coherent
research agenda with a record of indexed scholarly publications.
Preferred Qualifications: Beyond the minimum qualifications, an ideal
candidate would have (‎1) an extended professional background in both school
teaching and senior administration; (‎2) a history of working effectively with
globally diverse student populations; (‎3) demonstrated professional experience
with program development; and (‎4) demonstrable administrative experience in
leading diverse teams toward achieving performance goals.
