The Executive Vice President Marketing & Communications, Eastern Europe Middle
East & Africa is a key enabler of local, regional and global growth. S/he acts
as a strategic business partner to key geographical business unit heads and
global and regional functional heads by developing a comprehensive regional
marketing and communications strategy and helping refine the go-to-market
plans across multiple geographies, channels and market segments. Specifically,
s/he is responsible for helping to grow Mastercard's footprint in EEMEA by
staying on top of changing market, customer and consumer dynamics and trends
and leveraging the relevant insights to enable the business. S/he will employ
innovative thinking and thought leadership to develop scalable, insights-
driven marketing and communications strategies. Through the creation and
delivery of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, s/he will
own branding, positioning, brand preference and messaging within EEMEA. S/he
must also facilitate cross-market success transfers and apply marketing
discipline to amplify Mastercard's consumer and customer led strategies. This
is a customer facing role where you be extremely business focused in driving
the Mastercard business forward.


Role


Market Research & Insights: Utilize critical market and competitive research
to segment and define target markets, refine and improve the product value
proposition and implement the best market-penetration strategy.
Strategic Marketing: Partner with business and other functions leaders to
operationalize business goals into marketing priorities and initiatives. Align
resources to focus and deliver on segments, products, and markets. Lead the
Marketing and Communications EEMEA teams through budget planning cycles.
Agency Management: Work closely with and manage agency relationships and
oversee the annual Regional A&M budget. Develop world-class, industry-leading
marketing/communications campaigns through strong agency partnerships,
internal talent, and effective and efficient implementation.
Brand Stewardship: Oversee Mastercard's brand presence across relevant
consumer/B2B touchpoints and media channels. Capitalize on digital marketing
and leverage the latest technologies to lead the design and execution of
agreed direct-to-consumer and B2B initiatives; including marketing platforms
advertising and activation in traditional and digital/mobile channels;
sponsorships marketing; and internal and external communications.
Thought Leadership: Develop a cutting edge marketing and communications
platform and assets to position Mastercard's product leads as subject matter
experts and generate the perception that Mastercard is the most innovative
payments technology company.
Strategic Communications Planning: Develop and establish a fully integrated
strategic communications plan (e.g. external, internal, public affairs,
regulatory communications) for EEMEA. Ensure that media relations are handled
intelligently and with sophistication, across all markets and channels. This
includes forging and protecting relationships with key journalists,
influential bloggers and other leading opinion-makers


All About You
The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track
record in medium to large consumer-facing corporations, reporting to a senior-
level executive.


In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate the following
competencies:
Functional Marketing Leadership: Thorough knowledge of B2C and B2B marketing
principles, including: brand, product and service management; consumer
insights & segmentation, demand generation, digital marketing, "land and
expand" B2B sales, along with a demonstrated track record of multi-faceted
marketing and communication strategies on an international or EEMEA basis to
deliver competitive advantage.
Multi-Country Footprint: Management responsibility for a multi-country
business and demonstrated ability to work within and across geographic
boundaries within a matrix environment.
Thought Leadership: Demonstrated track record in bringing thought leadership
related to Customers, Consumers, Products and Digital Marketing.
Communications: The ability to lead a team of regional communications, public
relations and external affairs professionals. Expertise at handling complex PR
issues and initiatives required. Strong regulatory expertise/understanding
across EEMEA.
Team / People Leadership: A proven and accomplished leader with experience
attracting, building, coaching and developing a high-performing, cohesive
team.
General Management: Previous experience as a general management and/or
operations executive, with ownership of a P&L and significant online
transaction and/or transactional, marketplace-based business responsibility
would be ideal.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Adept at managing internal
stakeholders in terms of engagement, communication and transparency of
purpose. Can skillfully lead complex initiatives that require collaboration
across functional, geographical and cultural lines. Likewise, can work
effectively in a matrix environment with diverse teams.
Business Acumen: A strong balance of business skills, with a high level of
intellectual agility. Ability to think strategically, financially,
analytically, creatively and tactically. P&L management experience is
critical.
