Lucid Motors is a leading automotive company dedicated to delivering
sustainable luxury electric vehicles. We are seeking a highly experienced and
driven professional to join our team as the Director of Construction. In this
role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of
construction projects, ensuring their successful execution and completion. You
will play a crucial role in driving Lucid's ambitious expansion plans and
establishing state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and infrastructure.

The Role

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive construction strategy aligned with Lucid Motors' overall business objectives. Provide leadership and guidance to the construction team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.


• Project Management: Oversee the planning, design, and construction of manufacturing facilities, offices, and infrastructure projects. Ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards. Drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness in project execution.


• Vendor Management: Identify and engage with external contractors, architects, engineers, and other service providers. Establish and maintain strong partnerships to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of construction projects. Recommend project delivery, procurement, and contracting strategies as it relates to facility design and construction services. Manage contract negotiations and performance.


• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in construction management. Implement and maintain robust health and safety protocols.


• Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage construction budgets, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost control. Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to senior management.


• Schedule Management: Oversee the development and monitoring and control of integrated project schedules. Provide regular reports to senior management.


• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Facilities teams, to ensure seamless integration of construction projects with other operational functions. Drive effective communication and coordination across departments.


• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and obstacles during construction projects. Proactively address issues that may impact project timelines, costs, or quality. Implement appropriate risk management strategies and contingency plans.


• Value Management: Identify opportunities to optimize performance, quality, schedule, and lifecycle cost through value management and target value design initiatives.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.


• Experience: A minimum of ‎15 years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least ‎5 years in a leadership or executive role. Demonstrated experience in overseeing large-scale construction projects, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry. Experience with various forms of project delivery, including design-build, progressive design-build, and CM at Risk, and contracting types including guaranteed maximum price (GMP) and fixed price.


• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and regulations. Proficiency in project management principles, techniques, and software tools. Familiarity with sustainable construction practices is a plus.


• Leadership and Communication Skills: Proven track record of successfully leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization. Strong negotiation and contract management abilities.


• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute a long-term construction strategy aligned with business goals. Sound judgment and decision-making skills to drive successful project outcomes. Experience in managing budgets and financial performance.


• Problem-solving and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex construction-related challenges and develop practical solutions. Agility and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects concurrently.


• Industry Network: A strong network of contacts within the construction industry, including contractors, architects, and engineers, is highly desirable.
