Job Summary: GE Kuwait Technology Center is looking for qualified candidates
for Laboratory Specialist role to conduct experimentation under stringent GE's
safety and quality guidelines in its state of the art testing lab in Kuwait.
Our regional team supports the operation and maintenance of Gas Turbines,
Steam Turbines, Generators as well as their Controls, and Accessory systems.
The Power Services Engineering team members are focal points for problem
resolution for our customers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
* Responsible for execution of laboratory and field validation testing, inspection and data acquisition for use in the design and validation of products and services typically does not require Engineering degree
* Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, test rigs, instrumentation systems and the development of test software
* The Laboratory Specialist will be responsible for the day to day operation of the lab tests including maintenance of inventory and safety procedures.
* Perform lab analysis: oil and fuel test procedures including documentation as required
* Handling metallic materials, such as iron, steel, and other super alloys used in turbomachinery applications.
* Handling analytical equipment for analyzing fuel oil and lubricants and interpreting the results.
* Be a point of contact for the test procedure development of field samples, as per the regional/business needs
* Upgrade or update processes time to time as per ASTM or international procedures as applicable.
* Upgrade knowledge as needed time to time and come up with ideas of simplification
* Calibrate and maintain the associated testing equipment as per ISO procedures
* Report the results in a timely fashion to associated stakeholders
* Carry out and maintain GE specific and other needed certifications of the testing equipment
* Create and maintain standard operating procedures for the testing equipment within the GE EHS and quality framework
* Help the engineers in the regular EHS and other audits, maintain logs and close the open issues
Required Qualifications
* Diploma or bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical disciplines.
* Prior experience in handling testing procedures, compiling data and writing reports.
* Experience in handling analytical test equipment and temperature furnaces.
* Knowledge and/or experience in chemical safety and sds procedures for difference chemicals/processes.
* Knowledge in handling inert gases and safety procedures for regulated operations.
* Knowledge of ASTM specifications of mechanical testing, certification procedures, ISO quality control procedures.
* Eagerness to learn
* Good presentation and communication skills in English
Desired Characteristics
* Knowledge of 5S is a strong asset.
* Good knowledge in lab testing, characterization equipment such as analytical balances, XRF, GC, HC, Titration, water analysis, and calibration procedures.
* Knowledge in R &R process and charts.
* Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
* Operation knowledge with optical microscope, hardness, cutting and mechanical tools.
* Knowledge of lab quality certification and documentation
* Arabic knowledge
