Head of Biomedical Engineering

Job Description

Job Scope:

Head of Biomedical Engineer will provide overall technical support for the
installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintenance of medical, imaging,
scientific, dental and physiotherapy section's instruments / equipment's,
Medical gas. He will be responsible to perform installation and planning,
calibration, repair, preventive maintenance, upgrades of biomedical equipment.
Job Responsibilities:*
* Prepares detailed technical specifications for the procurement, support and special equipment to be installed.
* Responsible for installation (pre & post) of all biomedical equipment's as per all international & Manufacturer safety standards, software and give live demonstration to staffs.
* Responsible and make sure that all the machines & equipment's installed in the hospital as per all International, manufacturer, MOH standards, and store a data/report about them in the computer. Safe keeping operator and service manuals /CD/DVD's, Software CD/DVD's or any related accessories or parts or calibrating tools.
* As per guidance by the Head of Engineering to be consultant for suppliers of spare parts, following the medical and service contracts and dealing with companies and suppliers of medical equipment's and making comparison between them to provide it to the hospital administrator.
* To ensure quality control for all medical equipment's being used in the hospital as per international Safety standard. Also providing or arrange time to time operator or application training to equipment users and ensure all patient safety is met as per the international standards.
* To take a good care of the biomedical equipment's by doing a daily maintenance check, take immediate actions on maintenance requests received and working as a team with the maintenance supervisor & technician.
* Aim for continuous development and improvement to reach high level of technology.
* Responsible for the information with purchasing department in writing well in advance for any medical equipment that needs to be replaced.
* Provide input in department as per guideline used of medical equipment's on the preparation of policies and procedures addressing standard supplies of all biomedical equipment.
* If called for, to attend meetings of the purchasing committee as a technical person regarding procurement of medical equipment and give valuable suggestions.
* Responsible for any medical equipment taken out of the hospital for maintenance, the same should be informed to the coordinator.
* Responsible to train the staff in the hospital to use the medical machines in the right manner and to maintain them in good condition.
* Make sure that all the medical machines delivered to the hospital are informed to the Head of Engineering and concerned Department Head / coordinator immediately.
* Prepare Annual dept. plan including quality improvement plan and PMS schedule for all Bio -medical equipment's, submit PMS schedule to all medical department, follow up and perform the annual plan, PMS & submit a quarterly PMS report to Head of Engineering.
* Develop and monitor two Bio-medical section quality improvement indicators and submit a report to Head of engineering on Quarterly basis.
* Responsible to safe keep all Bio-medical testing equipment's and follow up the calibration as per manufacturer recommendations.
* If any biomedical equipment required MOH license then responsible to submit all details required by Licensing section of HR dept. or Medical director and follow up with MOH site surveyor in the Hospital.
* Responsible to attend off duty calls as per the Hospital policy.
* Performs any other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
* Education and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics/Electrical/Equivalent Studies
* ‎10 Years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Job-Specific/Technical Skills
* Proficiency in English Languages
* Good computer skills
* Exceptional written and oral communication skills
* Ability to lead and train colleagues.
* Ability to read schematics and/or technical manuals.
* Documents and tracks preventive maintenance activities.
* Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems, building materials, and emergency maintenance.
