Nursing Supervisor

Job Scope:

Provide professional supervisory nursing practice in the care of the patients
in Dar Al Shifa Hospital (DASH). Work involves responsibility for supervising
the provision of quality nursing care given at the facility. Responsible for
maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice; for contributing in
coordinating nursing and training programs; for recognizing and assisting in
solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems in assigned
areas/ hospital facilities. Exercises considerable judgment in applying
professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies
and practices and report to the Director of Nursing through conferences,
reports and observation of results obtained. Responsible and accountable for
assisting the nurse manager/team leaders in providing direction and guidance
in the delivery of patient care. The role mainly consists of interfacing with
the administrative and clinical nursing staff to provide leadership in
improving and maintaining the delivery of care processes and to assume
delegated responsibility for the implementation of daily operations. It
includes assisting in the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation
of the delivery of patient care within established institution's policies,
procedures, guidelines, and standards of professional nursing practice.
Accountable for the professional development of oneself and subordinates and
for fostering interdisciplinary and collaborative relationships. Acts as
liaison with the Director of Nursing, HN and nursing staff. Assumes the role
of the Head Nurse (HN) as delegated and /or during her absence if needed.
Participates in planning and carries out planned activities to promote quality
safe care. Enforces accreditation requirements, including but not limited to
International Patient Safety Goals, national and international standards.
Supports the mission and vision of the DASH and the Nursing Department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the effective delivery of competent, compassionate care by monitoring and evaluating Patient Centered Care processes and outcomes on the assigned unit.


• Ensure proper integration of the Nursing Process in daily activities.


• Serve as a clinical resource to assist staff in implementing the standards of care and practices.


• Encourage staff collaboration with multidisciplinary team and in care conferences /interdisciplinary rounds as needed.


• Promote, oversee and monitor unit patient /family education processes


• Serve as a role model for staff by demonstrating clinical expertise when providing direct patient care


• Provides clinical expertise in medical management, crisis and behavior management techniques.


• Support the creation of an environment fostering creativity and professional judgment, promote staff growth and initiative, nurture high morale, and meet employee's goals and objectives


• Ensure and observe new employee orientation to maximize efficient outcome. Report findings to HN.
  Addresses patients concerns / reported problems and provide problem solving

Qualifications & Experience:

Diploma in Nursing, BSN and/or MSN.
* A minimum experience of ‎6 years as an RN, of which ‎2 years as a Supervisor or equivalent.
* Knowledge: Medical, Surgical, pediatric, obstetrics& gynecology.
