Purpose of consultancy
Working with designated epidemiologists assigned to the area of work, the
purpose of this position is to support WHO EMRO response to the health
emergencies. The consultant will support the data management and analyses of
public health events and emergencies including COVID-19 and Monkeypox, as well
as contribute to capacity building of technical officers at different level in
the area of epidemiology and data analysis.
Background
The mission of WHO's Health Emergencies Programme (WHE) (The Programme) is to
build the capacity of Member States to manage health emergency risks and when
national capacities are overwhelmed, to lead and coordinate the international
health response to contain outbreaks and other health emergencies and to
provide effective relief and recovery to affected populations.
The Health Emergency Information and Risk Assessment Unit (HIM) is responsible
for identifying new public health events, assessing risks to public health,
conducting epidemiological surveillance and field investigations, monitoring
public health interventions, and communicating public health information to
technical partners.
Output 1: Conduct timely data management and analysis of regional COVID-19,
Monkeypox and other emergencies data, and disseminate the information
Deliverables:
Deliverable 1.1: Entering and verifying COVID-19 and Monkeypox data in the
different platforms e.g. DHIS2, Activity Info, Xmart
Deliverable 1.2: Develop COVID-19 situation reports (30 sitreps)
Deliverable 1.3: Production of COVID-19 and Monkeypox IMST presentation (40
presentations)
Deliverable 1.4: Update and develop the required analyses plan for COVID-19 or
other outbreaks
Deliverable 1.5: Support ad hoc analyses of outbreak data
Output 2: Provide technical inputs in capacity building to support
strengthening epidemiology and data analysis capacities
Deliverables:
Deliverable 2.1: assist in the training need assessment-TNA process and
formulation of training targets and objectives
Deliverable 2.2: Coordinate and assist the development of training materials
based on the TNA
Deliverable 2.3: Coordinate the planning and implementation of the training
Deliverable 2.4 Facilitate sessions in the training
Deliverable 2.5: Reporting the training activity and developing the training
database
Experience
* Experience required:
Indicate the minimum number of years of experience in each relevant field -
Including field experience.
* One year of professional work experience at the national level in public health, epidemiology, or Information Management, either in the Public or Private sector or other relevant programs.
* Experience with health data management work, including data collection, cleaning, analysis, and report generation.
* Experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
* Desirable experience:
* Working experience with communicable diseases and their relation to public health in general.
* Experience with activated health clusters or other humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
* Experience in the design and implementation of information systems in humanitarian and complex settings.
Skills/Technical skills and knowledge:
Indicate the specific technical skills needed to undertake this consultancy:
for example, specific technical knowledge in the use of technical tools,
knowledge of specific donors' requirements, writing skills, etc.
Essential
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
* Excellent knowledge of statistical and data analysis software (R, STATA, Power-Bi)
* Excellent presentation and communication skills, with emphasis on writing skills.

* Demonstrated ability to work and produce results under pressure in critical situations.
* Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to summarize information from a diversity of sources in a clear and concise manner.
Languages and level required:
Essential: Excellent Knowledge of English and Arabic Language.

Medical clearance
The selected Consultant will be expected to provide a medical certificate of
fitness for work.
Travel
The consultant is not expected to travel.
