The objectives of WHO'semergency programme are to design and implement
programmes that prepare thehealth sector to deal with emergencies and that
improve health during and aftercrises. Within the emergency programme, the
objectives of WHO's emergencyresponse team are to support Member States by: 1)
promptly assessing healthneeds of populations affected by crisis, identifying
priority causes ofill-health and death; preparing damage estimates and
emergency response and rehabilitation plans;providing prompt, credible health
information and ensuring the continuity ofessential health services; 2)
coordinating and monitoring emergency healthrelief efforts under the aegis of
the Inter-Agency Standing Committee HealthCluster, of which WHO is the lead
agency; 3) ensuring that critical gaps in thehealth response are rapidly
identified and filled; 4) Revitalizing and buildingthe capacity of national
health systems to deal with preparedness, detection,mitigation and response.
Support the Ministry ofHealth and Population and other partners on reinforcing
the epidemic diseasesresponse operation including timely analysis of data
relating to Covid andother disease with pandemic potential. Provide technical
inputto the identification of vulnerable groups, hotspots for
appropriateinterventions in order to accelerate Covid 19 immunization for
prevention andcontrol of epidemic and other emerging infectious diseases of
potential publichealth concern.Monitor and coordinatethe establishment of
early warning systems for epidemic and pandemic-pronedisease for early
detection and response to public health events of potentialconcern with a
feedback weekly report.4.Conduct the fieldinvestigation, risk assessment and
rapid public health response to theoutbreaks caused by emerging infectious
diseases during outbreaks or requestfrom Emergency coordinator.5. Arrange for
and compilematerials for the activities of building national capacities and
support the necessarytrainings to the relevant personnel on the implementation
of theepidemic/emergency preparedness and responses activities.6. Work with
the Ministryof Health and Population as well as other involved health and WASH
clusterpartners, in order to properly coordinate the epidemic preparedness
andresponse activities and share necessary health-related data for
information,analysis and to strengthen relationships among all stakeholders.
Essential : University degree in epidemiology, medicine,public health,
international health or related field.
Desirable : Post graduate degree in related field isdesirable.
Essential : One year experience in applied epidemiology or public health
surveillance with a track record in engaging with stakeholders.
Desirable : Experience in the areas ofoutbreak investigation and response
particularly in developing countries.Training on epidemiological surveillance
and response or on outbreakinvestigation.
Very good knowledge, competency,and professional skills on the public health
aspects of infectious diseasecontrol, epidemic and pandemic preparedness and
response with particularattention to the use of applied epidemiology and
principles of public health inthe control of epidemic diseases and outbreak
prevention.Ability to process,analyze and interpret epidemiological
surveillance data for epidemic andpandemic risk assessment.Effective
presentationand writing skills.Excellent communicationskills for conducting
training courses.Familiarity with workin emergency situations. Familiarity
with thehealth problems in the country.

Desirable :
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at EGP 500,214 (subject
to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as
applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
