Organizational Setting:
The FAO Representation in Egypt supports the Government of Egypt in developing
policies and more specifically under this project and are aiming to reduce the
impact of COVID-‎19 across the food supply chains: (i) protecting the most
vulnerable groups, addressing inequality and rural poverty in the context of
COVID-‎19; (ii) building resilient and sustainable food systems and food supply
chains; (iii) continue supporting governmental programmes to stimulate the
economy and supporting local enterprises, to protect workers and farmers and
supporting their incomes; and (iv) ensure the functioning of agricultural
value chains, given their importance and critical role in food access and food
availability. Ultimately, there is a need to improve the enabling policy
environment to ensure stable, sufficient, safe and nutritious food for all,
particularly the most vulnerable groups.
The position is located in the FAO Office in Cairo, Egypt.


Reporting Lines:
Under the overall supervision of the FAO representative and Assistant FAO
Representative and the direct supervision of the Project Senior Advisor, the
expert will work in close collaboration with all partners (government, local
authorities, NGOs, private sector, and others) and coordination with the
technical team of the project, and the team of FAO Office in Egypt.


Technical Focus:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing information campaigns and
communication materials to be disseminated to stakeholders and media related
to the project.


Tasks and responsibilities:
The Communication Specialist - will be responsible for the following tasks:
* Formulate the communication and visibility strategy, in line with in line with FAO corporate communication guidelines and donor requirements.
* Lead the implementation and regular update of the project's overall communication and visibility plan and strategy.
* Engage with technical project staff to develop ways to implement joint information campaigns.
* Provide expert advice to local implementing partners on strategic communication, written communication, and best practices.
* Work with the technical project staff to communicate project accomplishments to media and the public.
* Work with technical project staff to produce communication materials that are clear and understandable by project stakeholders and ensure those materials are distributed to communities, target beneficiaries, government authorities, to increase awareness of the project, its major results and lessons learned.
* Work with FAO Egypt communication team to update project information and results on the FAO Egypt website and social media channels.
* Participate in technical meetings and support facilitation of workshops and meetings, as required.
* Support project monitoring and evaluation activities including the establishment of baselines, progress reports and work plan in relation to Communication.
* Ensure the project's knowledge products are archived, especially those that are not time sensitive.
* Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING


Minimum Requirements
* An advanced university degree in communication, journalism, social or political science, or a related discipline..
* ‎5 years of relevant experience in communication, public information or journalism, media relations, international relations with emphasis in communication strategy and partnership development, especially in rural development sector.
* Fluent in English and native Arabic.
* Nationality of Egypt.
