POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the guidance and direction of the English Language Programs Manager, the
Senior Academic Coordinator will be responsible for designing and developing
curriculum, teacher recruitment, teachers ' professional development,
monitoring of teacher performance, and review of student performance and
improvement plans. The incumbent of the position will be responsible for
ensuring the quality of the EL classes at Amideast Egypt and reporting results
of development interventions to the English Language Programs Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teacher Management
* Support the recruitment of English language instructors
* Participate in the orientation and training of new English language staff, including and especially teachers
* Implement professional development activities for English instructors
* Observe classes and provide feedback to the instructors against a consistent performance rubric to ensure program quality
* Review and provide feedback on teachers' lesson plans
* Hold regular meetings with instructors to address issues, answer questions and provide support
* Review teacher payment requests and supporting documents provided by the EL Program Manager in Cairo and EL Program Specialist in Alexandria
* Work closely with the Senior EL Program Manager and others as designated in forecasting and developing teacher recruitment plans
* Create innovative learning, teaching and assessment practices in the classroom
* Review, develop and ensure the implementation of effective assessment tools to measure student learning Participate in the orientation and training of new English language staff innovation and Content Development
* Support EL Senior Program Manager in enhancing and developing curricula responsive to market needs
* Ensure curriculum is implemented appropriately by teachers
* Improve the already existent English Language content and develop new vibrant content that is relevant to the market's needs
* Standardize the quality of EL programs being delivered across Amideast and develop an inclusive and coherent content
* Plan for EL program development and expansion through the creation of new or adapted offerings (in-person, blended, and online) for different audiences, including general, young learners, academic, business, and ESP courses
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required:
* Master's degree in applied Linguistics/TESOL, or a related major
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in developing English Language programs
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in classroom teaching
* Experience with planning curriculum and assessment
* Experience with teacher training, mentoring, or coaching
* Extensive knowledge of e-learning and online teaching practices
* Extensive knowledge of the TESOL field and current ELT trends
* Native/near-native proficiency in spoken and written English
* Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
* Demonstrated problem-solving, innovation, and ability to take initiative
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
* Excellent computer literacy in MS Office
Preferred:
* Spoken and written fluency in Arabic
* Additional professional credentials such as Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), or Project Management for Development (PMD Pro) certification
* TOEIC score of 950 or equivalent
Up to 5% business travel may be needed to support English Language Programs as
needed.
