Job Purpose:

The Category Manager leads high-complexity sourcing projects and associated
supplier relationships working effectively with all internal and external
stakeholders, and more junior members of the Procurement team which may cut
across several customer groups.

You will be the principal point of contact for a number of Category-based
projects. The Category Manager will provide strong commercial leadership to
project teams, develop and execute creative strategies to ensure work is
conducted with rigorous professional standards in full compliance with KAUST
governance.

Major Accountabilities:

You will:

• 
  

  Liaise with Supply Chain to ensure goods and services are delivered without delay.

  
  


• 
  

  Partner with customers and key stakeholders to evaluate expenditure, develop and implement strategic category plans.

  
  


• 
  

  Apply Sourcing and Supplier Management methodologies, lead cross-functional teams, and execute multiple sourcing projects in a portfolio of goods, materials and services.

  
  


• 
  

  Implement category strategies through sourcing initiatives and supplier management to generate value and achieve procurement targets.

  
  


• 
  

  Manage complex and multiple sourcing projects, and deliver sustainable value for KAUST through managing sourcing and supplier relationship management initiatives.

  
  


• 
  

  Be responsible to draft contracts for highly complex activities, and possess a strong understanding of contract structures, model contracts and standardization, and have awareness of how terms and conditions vary amongst industries.

  
  


• 
  

  Draft contracts to align with business activities; such as construction and facilities management.

  
  


• 
  

  Build strong business relationships with suppliers and identify opportunities for extending these relationships.

  
  


• 
  

  Develop and implement Supplier Management plans for complex category relationships.

  
  


• 
  

  Communicate frequently and effectively with stakeholders to update progress of initiative, monitor new requirements and gather feedback.

  
  


• 
  

  Negotiate technical and commercial terms with suppliers to ensure stakeholders' needs are met and the best value for the requirements.

  
  


• 
  

  Identify and manage high impact risks to the category, escalating any risks that fall outside of the category but could affect KAUST.

  
  


• 
  

  Be accountable for quality and timeliness of critical deliverables and communications.

  
  


• 
  

  Request and allocates resources to initiatives in order to deploy category strategy and supplier management activities effectively.

  
  


• 
  

  Lead cross-functional teams to manage the implementation of the category strategy Targets/metrics/KPl's.

  
  


• 
  

  Forecast, track key account metrics, and implement actions to ensure all targets are achieved.

  
  


• 
  

  Manage and process purchase requisitions, including: order creation (PO), supplier contacts, order tracking, monitor goods services reception and payments.

  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  

  Bachelors / Master's Degree in a relevant subject.

  
  


• 
  

  Procurement Qualification is essential (e.g. MCIPS or IACCM).

  
  

Experience:

• 
  

  You will have a minimum of ‎9 years' experience in Procurement organizations of which a minimum of ‎4 years applicable experience in managing a Procurement category Language.

  
  


• 
  

  Fluency in English to communicate Legal requirements is essential.

  
  


• 
  

  International experience is preferred.
