Collaborates with the Infection Control team, through the chain of command to
perform and provide advanced participation in infection control and other
assigned duties for the Department of Infection Control and Hospital
Epidemiology.
1.Supervises and assists the Infection Control Practitioner to collect and
analyse infection control data, provide unit coverage and other duties if
required.
2.Consults with Infectious Disease Consultants and senior Infection Control
management team in matters pertaining to clinical management of patients with
infectious diseases.
3.Assists the Senior Infection Control Coordinator in developing and
evaluating the criteria for health-care related infections to be used in
surveillance activities.
4.Assists the Senior Infection Control Coordinator to analyse infection
control data, to evaluate and make recommendations regarding infection control
practices, identify, report, and make recommendations on epidemiological
variations.
5. Perform clinical responsibilities within related specialty such
as(Nursing, Laboratory, Respiratory, Pharmacy, etc.) as assigned.
6.Provides ongoing evaluation of the surveillance plan to assure the infection
control practitioner meets the needs of the client, with appropriate accuracy,
consistency of reporting and recommendations.
7.Collaborates in the development or revision of infection control policies.
8.Designs special studies, as indicated, when pathogens display unusual trends
and participates in approved hospital-wide research studies as related to
infection control outbreak investigations and control measures in
collaboration with the appropriate authorities.
9.Oversees the Ministry of Health (MOH) reporting processes (including HESN
and maintaining data bases of reportables), submits necessary reports to the
MOH, and as required liasons with the MOH regarding reportable diseases.
10.In collaboration with both ICHE senior management and Hospital
Epidemiologist is responsible for ensuring accurrate reporting, follow-up
requirements and management of Mycobacterium tuberculosis cases.
Education**
Master's Degree in Public Health or other Health-Allied field is required, and
Graduation from an accredited degree program in a clinical field such as
Registered Nursing or Microbiology is required.
Four (4) years of clinical experience in an acute or teaching hospital in
addition to a minimum of two (2) years ' experience and strong knowledge base
in infection control and prevention is required.
Current licensure from country of origin required.
Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required.
