Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Riyadh office as part of our Client Capabilities
Network and Insights Hub team. Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities
Networkdeliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are
driven by a culture of innovation.
As part of our Analytics Center for Economic Development (ACE) team, you will
help clients develop a deeper understanding of the evolution of economies and
provide inferences based on capabilities, impact assessments and analytics.
You will work with clients, consultants and internal teams to analyze large
quantities of data, build models and create tools that help clients identify
emerging economic trends, and develop insights to guide decision-making. This
will also involve collaboration with leading international experts including
the McKinsey Global Institute - McKinsey's internal economics think-tank.

What You'll Do

You will participate in and lead client service.
In this role, you will be pulled in by teams due to well-defined knowledge
expertise/spike as you will tailor knowledge/expertise to specific client
settings. You will develop insights and recommendations, and conduct practice
and capability building. You will lead practice/growth platform/guild-building
initiatives such as learning events, knowledge building and client
development. You will drive the firm's innovation and capability building
agenda through expertise on client relevant topics as well as actively
apprentice in and support client development (e.g., supporting proposals,
contributing to white papers).
You will also participate in knowledge development for the practice. You will
present and maintain a clearly defined knowledge/expertise spike, recognized
by clients and practice/ growth platform/guild as well as renew your knowledge
over time. You will also expand the firm's knowledge in at least one area and
contribute to knowledge development initiatives that advance firm's
capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree (MS or PhD is a plus) in an economics/applied economics or an analytics field (e.g., statistics, engineering, etc.)


• ‎7+ years of work experience preferably with think tanks, research centers, economic modelling departments


• Strong quantitative skills demonstrated in either academic or professional experience; comfort working with advanced analysis techniques


• Sound conceptual foundation in statistics and mathematics


• Solid knowledge of advanced macroeconomic models, DSGE, CGE and other econometric models


• Knowledge and practical experience in econometric applications (e.g., Eviews) and advanced analytics-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, R) is preferred


• Demonstrated expertise in economics, applied economics, econometrics and statistics; specific knowledge or experience in development economics is a plus


• Excellent problem solving skills including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions


• Depth of expertise in public sector topics and strong trajectory of building on and expanding that base


• Solid problem solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, develop hypotheses and actionable recommendations from data and analysis (focused on area of expertise)


• Strong business acumen; ease in approaching issues from a top management view and discussing them in the overall context of a business


• Ability to absorb rapidly and grapple with a wide range of complex business issues; ability to recognize patterns, adapt best practices (in area of expertise)


• Collaborative and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of team members


• Distinctive communications skills; ability to communicate analytical and technical content in an easy to understand way


• Effective communicator, facilitator of meetings and presenter to a diverse set of clients and colleagues at all levels; ability to use creative communication techniques to engage, coach for nature of expert role


• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
