Job Description
Gilead Sciences has an exciting opportunity for the role of Associate Director
- Finance , supporting the Saudi affiliate and reporting to the Middle East
Finance Director. You will work closely with the local team in Saudi and be
responsible for business partnering activities to support the business with
industry-leading therapies. Success in this role will require the development
of effective partnerships with above-country functions and teams including
Controllership, Global Shared Services, Internal Audit, Tax, Treasury and
Technical Accounting, The AD finance will have experience leading process
change and leveraging technology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of
financial processes and requires the ability to effectively multi-task,
prioritize work, and demonstrate accountability.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for providing timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial reporting
* Ownership of the accounting processes to support balance sheet accruals, provisions, allocations, reclassifications, and other accounting transactions
* Local lead to ensure the integrity of the affiliate's financial control framework, including compliance with local reporting requirements, and as point person with Internal and External auditors.
* Lead month and quarter-end close activities, interacting successfully with Regional Controllership and Shared Services to ensure all regional submission requirements and timelines are met
* Oversee processes to ensure all Tax submissions are made in a timely and accurate fashion, partnering closely with external Advisory partners
* Maintain processes to effectively forecast affiliate Working Capital and Cash Flows reflecting key business events and drivers, and explaining these to above-country users of these forecasts
* Review and approve monthly balance sheet account reconciliations per the assigned deadlines, ensuring that any reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis.
* Ensure finance policies (Controller's Manual), and tax and legal requirements are followed.
* Identify areas for process improvement and efficiencies, and drive solutions focusing on regional and global standardization.
* Establish strong business partnerships with the country manager and all other functions to provide comprehensive financial support and ongoing analytics for revenues and opex
* Lead the month-end and LE process, ensuring accuracy and streamlined processes.
* Drive development of meaningful financial analyses and create effective presentations to communicate conclusions and recommendations to senior management.
* Drive development and implementation of key process improvement initiatives. Proactively engage with Finance colleagues and business partners to develop continuous process improvements to planning, analyses and reporting.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures
* Ad hoc analyses as needed


Knowledge, Experience and Skills
* ‎12+ years of relevant experience within pharma industry
* Knowledge of generally accepted accounting policies and procedures.
* Prior experience in a comparable organization, with responsibility for such processes as financial reporting, tax, AR/Credit, cash flow management, A/P, etc
* Strong knowledge of integrated Enterprise systems, ideally SAP, and proficiency with Microsoft tools
* Experience in a comparable multi-national organization, with biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience is strongly preferred
* Prior experience partnering with the business within an FP&A role
* Demonstrated technical, problem solving, and analytical skills.
* A highly collaborative style that works with all levels of leadership.
* Arabic language is mandatory
