About this role
Corporate Functions help deliver our strategy and plans for growth. We shape
and steer the direction of the business by managing our people, finances,
shared services and buildings. We also oversee our legal, regulatory and
compliance obligations too.
On top of the above, they crucial nature of the role can be showcased as per
below:
* Provides Financial / Commercial Management function based around Budgeting, Forecasting and Analysing the Financial operations of the MEA sub region and ensuring a solid P&L within Sub region or applicable vertical reporting lines.
* Work closely with Business (ROM, CFO) to ensure the financial strategies of the MEA Management team are followed through wrt Budgeting Forecasting and Reporting.
* Ensure Good accounting governance within MEA sub region.
* Owns relationship & influences at ROM, CFO level
You'll have the following responsibilities
* Responsible for agreeing Budget strategy with MEA Business and ensure this flow into MEA Budget via BT process
* Creation of Bottom up monthly Forecasts for R.E/ Vertical / services lines as applicable, agreed with MEA Business and submit to AMEA central teams.
* Monthly finalisation of P&L numbers-work in conjunction with MEA financial Controllers to build Monthly review pack & run monthly WD3 review call with CFO and central team
* Analyse variances against Budget/ Monthly Forecasts wrt P&L numbers for month/ Quarter (in conjunction with MEA financial Controllers)
* Review numbers and understand reasons for variances against budget/ Forecast-investigate/fix as & where applicable
* Work with Senior Managment Team to build cluster deck for the monthly cluster reviews.
* Responsible for building and maintaining strong internal relationships (may cover some external relationships as well). Educates, supports and challenges senior managers /senior stakeholders (typically GM / Head of level -UK) and is considered a strategic business
* Personally accountable for ensuring financial accounting policies and process is followed. Suggests resolution to complex issues and across LoB boundaries (guidance sought in most cases) and/or advises on specialist area
* May have direct people / resource management responsibility (e.g. in large teams) and / or review work of more junior roles although currently no direct people reporting lines.
* Gives financial guidance to senior leadership teams (HR, ROM, CFO) and guides more junior roles and advises and coaches on financial policy and practices that support BT's long term goals (CA's Central teams-Service lines etc)
You'll have the following skills & experience
* Financial controls, compliance and risk - You partner with related teams to provide audit and control testing for the business. You assess results and recommend adjustments to strengthen our compliance against standards and minimise risks.
* Forecasting, planning and budgeting - You identify, understand and challenge the risks, assumptions, drivers and interdependencies of the forecast and budget. You do this based on your understanding of market trends and macroeconomic factors.
* Accounting principles - You apply accounting principles (and where relevant financial statements), procedures and systems in complex and unique scenarios. You demonstrate expertise in one or more functional areas and review your team's work to make sure it is complete and accurate.
* Management reporting - You develop best practices in reporting. You make sure that your inputs are consistent and streamlined so that your reports will be too. You tailor reports to appropriate audiences and ask for regular feedback to improve your reports.
* Use data analytics - You identify opportunities to use data analytics to make better decisions. You deliver process, systems or tool changes to improve our data analytics capability.
* Taught your team how to do their roles more effectively
* Undertook a teambuilding exercise and measured your team's motivation & feedback
* Managed headcount and departmental costs when cost was under pressure
* Made decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (eg divided team loyalties or unclear deliverables).
* Managed a low performing team to a successful outcome
* Actively participated in strategy setting sessions
* Aligned project plans and objectives with BT strategy and values
* To suit the needs of a customer, colleague or client; moved outside of expected process or practice
