Lab Assistant

Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Lab Assistant for Al
Majd Charter School in Abu Dhabi commencing AY23/‎24.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in related field
Minimum Experience:
* A minimum of ‎3 years of experience in a similar role
* Experience of US Common Core curriculum will be an advantage.

Main Duties:
* Provide laboratory support.
* Provide direct support in the preparation of all lessons taking place in science, ICT, Art and LEGO laboratories and classrooms.
* Be available in the laboratory or prep rooms to support all teaching staff in these areas.
* Support classroom delivery, as required.
* Manage laboratories and ensuring that the right equipment, tools, chemicals, and other materials are adequately stocked and kept in working condition.
Specific Duties:
* Liaise with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements and work plans.
* Run trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrate techniques for experiments.
* Ensure that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.
* Demonstrate accurate and appropriate use of all equipment.
* Set up, check, and issue, equipment, and apparatus for use in practical lessons as required by subject plans and in liaison with teaching staff.
* Retrieve and clear away apparatus and monitor stock levels.
* Maintain and repair equipment, laboratory, art and LEGO apparatus.
* Maintain required records and logs of all maintenance and servicing of equipment and facilities.
* Manage the stock control of all equipment.
* Ensure all equipment is appropriately stored when not in use.
* Keep records, e.g. for students' practical sessions, tracking methods and results.
* Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that all materials are appropriately stored.
* Support the work of teachers in classes and laboratory sessions and give technical advice to staff and students.
* Work with individual students and support them on research projects and in Extra Curricular Activities.
* Coordinate work in the laboratory to ensure efficient use is made of expensive pieces of equipment.
